FOXBOROUGH – The reports of a rift at One Patriots Place are not something that was on Tom Brady’s radar screen. “I have no reaction,’’ the quarterback said after Saturday morning’s two-hour camp practice wrapped up when asked about the reports of turmoil between he, coach Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft. Brady, speaking publicly for the first time this offseason, abruptly ended the five-minute session after being asked what his reaction was to people linking Julian Edelman’s suspension to his business partner, Alex Guerrero. “I have no comment,’’ he said. “That’s just ridiculous. I’m out. See you guys.’’ Brady touched on a number of subjects, including the return of offensive Josh McDaniels (“He’s one of my best friends … I’m glad he’s on our team.’’), his offseason family time, and how he feels entering his 19th season. “It’s been good … [Read more...] about Tom Brady isn’t interested in talking about reported rift or Alex Guerrero

A photo of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in full pads throwing a pass was posted to his verified Instagram account on Wednesday with the caption “Dreamworks’’ followed by a sparkling emoji and the peace sign emoji. It is unclear when the photo was taken. Brady has not attended the team’s workouts this week, by all accounts, and teams cannot practice in full pads at this point anyway. According to the team, there was no practice scheduled Wednesday. The Patriots’ first mandatory practices of the offseason are a three-day minicamp June 5-7 that team owner Robert Kraft said Brady is “very excited about.’’ The photo could be a little reminder that Brady is doing his part on his own time to make the dream work. (As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work.) It could also serve as a reminder that the quarterback has not been in Patriots practice gear with his team yet this offseason. Maybe Brady posted it to troll all those who are … [Read more...] about What’s up with the photo posted on Tom Brady’s Instagram today?
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Seven-on-seven drills. Playbook run-throughs. Pretending that everything is normal. It’s all part of the New England Patriots getting ready for the regular season. Three months after losing the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Patriots held their second organized team activity on Tuesday — without Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Coach Bill Belichick declined to comment on the absence of two of his biggest stars, and their teammates claimed to be too focused on their own jobs to worry about who wasn’t there. “It’s been really hard to get accustomed to a new team and learn everybody’s name,” rookie Danny Etling, a seventh-round draft choice who hopes to follow Brady as New England’s starting quarterback, said when asked if he had communicated with the three-time NFL MVP yet. “I’m just really focused on getting to know everybody.” Asked if he knew Brady’s name, Etling smiled. … [Read more...] about What the Patriots’ backup quarterbacks had to say about practicing without Tom Brady
Tom Brady’s words are all over the airwaves in Boston this week, but it’s not a soundbite from anything the Patriots quarterback said recently. Instead, it’s a clip of Brady, circa 2013, describing the importance of offseason voluntary workouts. “You think, ‘It’s just an OTA in the spring time and it’s not that important,’ and all those things that probably could enter your mind,” Brady said at the time. “The truth is, this lays the foundation for the start of training camp and if you have a good training camp, it usually means a good start to the season.” That sound plays a bit differently these days as No. 12 elects not to attend the third phase of New England’s offseason program. The hosts and callers on Boston sports radio are pointing out that contrast, as well as trying to explain Brady’s decision to skip Monday’s OTA. Theories thrown out there include a rift between Brady and Belichick, contract … [Read more...] about What Boston sports radio is saying about Tom Brady missing OTAs
Patriots coach Bill Belichick spoke with reporters in Foxborough ahead of Tuesday’s voluntary session of organized team activities, the second day of Phase 3 of the NFL offseason program. But Belichick did not want to discuss any players who were not in attendance, most notably quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski. When asked if he had spoken with Brady about OTAs, Belichick responded, “Yeah, I’m not going to talk about the people who aren’t here. The guys that are here are improving, they’re working hard, those are guys we’re going to focus on.’’ When asked about a meeting with Gronkowski recently that Gronkowski called “productive,’’ Belichick gave basically the same response as he did to the Brady question. Belichick rolled out one of his most-used lines when asked about the importance of these practices in terms of building a foundation for the upcoming season. “Well, we’ve got a long way to … [Read more...] about Bill Belichick won’t talk about Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski missing OTAs
