The news is a tad surprising, as an acting coach was reportedly hired during filming on "Solo" to help with Ehrenreich's performance. Alden Ehrenreich, who plays a young Han Solo in the upcoming "Solo: A Star Wars Story," just revealed a big secret. In an interview with Esquire, the actor seemed to accidentally reveal that he is signed on for three "Star Wars" movies. Director J.J. Abrams has selected African American filmmaker Victoria Mahoney to serve as second unit director on the next Star Wars movie, reports Indiewire. Ava DuVernay first shared the news on her Twitter feed: Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release in 2019. Abrams is already in pre-production. According to Indiewire, Mahoney will work on directing scenes that are “mostly dedicated to shooting essential pieces like establishing shots, stunts, inserts, and cutaways.” Mahoney made her directorial debut in 2011 with her film Yelling to the Sky, starring Zoe Kravitz. She had director’s credits for several TV series including Grey’s Anatomy, Power, Claws, and Queen Sugar.
