Naveen Kulkarni of Axis Securities The sense on the Street is that India's banking shares could be a big mover over the next 12 months, as all the positives start getting priced in. In conversation with Moneycontrol, Naveen Kulkarni, Chief Investment Officer at Axis Securities also believes that the picture for Indian IT sector 'remains quite complex' at this juncture. He advices investors to be selective, and also to wait for another quarter to understand the changing trends here. Here's the full interaction. Do you think the new-age tech companies will delay their IPO plans, especially after already-listed new-age companies were hit quite badly in the recent turmoil and corrected more than others? The market has changed for technology companies after the significant correction seen on the Nasdaq. As central bankers around the world try to manage the liquidity - which is fuelling global inflation - the cost of funds will continue to rise. This will have the most … [Read more...] about Daily Voice | FII selling may now abate, banks ripe for up move over 12 months

New Coaching Regime Expected To Bring Excitement Back To Minnesota Vikings Offense
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When the Minnesota Vikings decided that the Mike Zimmer era had to come to an end and a new coach was needed to reignite the team, few Vikings observers and fans could argue against the decision. Zimmer, perhaps the top defensive mind in the NFL when he was hired in 2014, had run his course. Zimmer’s abilities as a defensive innovator were not overstated, but he had carried a “woe is me” persona since Minnesota’s 10-9 wild-card loss to the Seattle Seahawks at frigid (-6 degrees Fahrenheit) TCF Bank Stadium following the 2015 regular season. The Vikings were poised to beat the Seahawks when Blair Walsh lined up for what should have been a 27-yard game-winning field goal with 26 seconds remaining, but the kicker gagged and the Vikings lost. Nobody was more stunned than Zimmer, and it seemed the cold slap of that loss never left the coach’s consciousness throughout his tenure. New head coach Kevin O’Connell has none of … [Read more...] about New Coaching Regime Expected To Bring Excitement Back To Minnesota Vikings Offense
3 Possible Solutions To Housing Booms And Busts
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Changes in demand caused by the pandemic were, of course, a big part of the house price boom but two years of falling mortgage rates was the main reason house prices skyrocketed in 2020 and 2021. Rates fell from 4.9% in November 2018 to 2.7% in January 2021, the lowest rate ever on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages. Is there a sector of the economy that is more sensitive to changes in interest rates than buying houses? When you borrow 95% of the price of the largest purchase of your life for 30 years, interest rates have a huge impact on how much you can pay for a house and, therefore, on house prices in general. In January 2021, you could borrow 32% more money to buy a house than you could in November 2018 with the exact same monthly principal and interest mortgage payment. House buyers, both investors and live-in buyers, could borrow a lot more money with the same payment, so naturally, over time, they bid up house prices. … [Read more...] about 3 Possible Solutions To Housing Booms And Busts
Genesis Launch North American Tour With Triumphant Opening Night In Chicago
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “Say we’ll be together ‘til the end,” sang Phil Collins Monday night in Chicago as English prog rockers Genesis launched their North American tour on stage at United Center. Amidst an arena concert landscape dominated by reunion tours - in a year where acts like the Rolling Stones are staging highly entertaining concerts even as each member approaches the age of 80 - most tours lack a tangible sense of finality. Another go at it almost always seems plausible. But this Genesis outing feels different, with even the tour’s title - “The Last Domino?” - seemingly hinting at the inevitable. Plagued by a litany of health issues, singer Phil Collins, 70, now sits for the majority of the group’s two hour plus performances, unable to play the drums as he did when Genesis last performed together in 2007. Nevertheless, Monday night in Chicago, the first of two sold out shows at United Center, found Collins in fine … [Read more...] about Genesis Launch North American Tour With Triumphant Opening Night In Chicago
Phillies Lose Two-Time MVP Bryce Harper With Fractured Thumb
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The flickering flame of Philadelphia’s playoff hopes may have gone out over the weekend. That’s because Bryce Harper, a two-time National League Most Valuable Player, suffered a thumb fracture when hit by a pitch from Blake Snell of the San Diego Padres. If surgery is needed, the high-priced slugger could be lost for the season – along with the team’s title chances. The Phillies, who have not reached postseason play since 2011, are running third in the National League East, a division dominated this season by the New York Mets. Even a 14-game winning streak by the second-place Atlanta Braves hasn’t been able to decapitate New York. After Philadelphia’s 4-2 win at San Diego Saturday night, the team had a 38-35 record, nine games behind the Mets and four behind the Braves. Harper, a 29-year-old left-handed hitter, had already been reduced from regular right-fielder to designated hitter because he suffered a … [Read more...] about Phillies Lose Two-Time MVP Bryce Harper With Fractured Thumb

Russia slips into historic default as sanctions muddy next steps
- A + A (June 27): Russia defaulted on its external sovereign bonds for the first time in a century, the culmination of ever-tougher Western sanctions that shut down payment routes to overseas creditors. For months, Russia had found paths around the penalties imposed after the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine. But at the end of the day on Sunday, the grace period on about US$100 million of trapped interest payments due May 27 expired, a deadline considered an “Event of Default” if missed. The route to this point has been far from normal, as Russia has the resources to pay its bills — and tried to do so — but was blocked by the sanctions. Those restrictions also mean there’s huge uncertainty about what comes next, and about how investors can go about getting their money. “With Russia benefiting from the high price of its energy exports, it clearly has both the means and the desire to pay its foreign debt,” said Giles Coghlan, chief analyst at HYCM Group. It’s a … [Read more...] about Russia slips into historic default as sanctions muddy next steps
Tax Information Reporting On Digital Assets Steps Into The Spotlight
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The looming prospect of compliance with the reporting requirements in section 6050I has been a problem for the digital asset industry since the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (P.L. 117-58) last November. The requirements pose procedural obstacles and privacy concerns for taxpayers, but the government has an interest in ensuring compliance with the tax laws. The revised version of section 6050I requires taxpayers engaged in a trade or business to file an information return when they receive $10,000 or more in digital assets in one transaction or two or more related transactions in the course of that trade or business. The information required is the name, address, and tax identification number of the person from whom the assets were received; the amount of the assets; and the date and nature of the transaction. The provision was originally designed for cash transactions. The brief push for … [Read more...] about Tax Information Reporting On Digital Assets Steps Into The Spotlight
Chart patterns hint at more downsides, wait for panic bottom at 14,000 on Nifty, says Mazhar Mohammad of Chartviewindia
The downtrend in the market is far from over, if technical evidences are considered, and the broader index may decline to a level anywhere between 13,950 and 13,500, says Mazhar Mohammad, Founder and Chief Market Strategist at Chartviewindia. "We are not buyers at these levels but wait for a panic bottom to form around 14,000 levels which should be a good opportunity," he says during an interview with Moneycontrol . But, investors can focus on themes like electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem from Auto space, high beta large-cap private banks space and can start accumulating some of the midcap IT counters which corrected by 40 - 50 percent, he says. Excerpts from the interview: Do you think the Nifty50 has bottomed out after hitting a fresh 52-week low so far as chart patterns and sentiment indicators show? In recent times, more often than not, investors have seen markets staging bigger rallies after slightly bigger corrections or a market crash kind of situation. Hence, it … [Read more...] about Chart patterns hint at more downsides, wait for panic bottom at 14,000 on Nifty, says Mazhar Mohammad of Chartviewindia
HK’s handover generation is caught in China’s whirlwind
HONG KONG (Bloomberg): How does Hong Kong look to people born in the year of the handover - for whom the city has always been under Chinese sovereignty? Some feel their fate is tied to Hong Kong’s, while others feel like bystanders as Beijing tightens its grip. Many plan to leave sooner or later. We spoke to six 24- and 25-year-olds about the Hong Kong they grew up in, and the one they expect to exist in another 25 years. The returning professional "I feel helpless witnessing the changes that Hong Kong has been through,” said Keanne Lee. "At the same time, I want to keep a glimpse of hope alive that the city won’t lose its uniqueness.” Lee studied at a Hong Kong school where lessons are taught in English, then went to university in the UK. She returned to her home city after graduation, where she’s now a marketing executive for an e-commerce company. She has no plans to move abroad permanently in the near future. The growing pressure on school pupils to learn Mandarin is … [Read more...] about HK’s handover generation is caught in China’s whirlwind
