Gun Law Changes Will Impact Legal Advisors

June 24, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Legal advisors will need to come up to speed on the new gun law changes. I hope that this helps. On Tuesday, June 21, the Senate advanced a gun safety bill, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, with a vote of 64-34. Just days later, the Supreme Court announced its decision in New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, where the court struck down New York’s law requiring applicants for a concealed handgun license show “proper cause” before receiving their permit. Here’s what the proposed bill seeks to accomplish : 1. Close the boyfriend loophole. Currently, federal law prevents those who have been convicted of domestic abuse against a partner they are married to, living with or share children with from purchasing a gun —but does not apply to those convicted of abuse against a person they are merely dating or have no romantic relationship with. The updated text would define “misdemeanor crime of domestic … [Read more...] about Gun Law Changes Will Impact Legal Advisors

Law Firm Representing Hillary’s IT Guy Has Donated Heavily To Her Campaign

September 5, 2015 by dailycaller.com

Bryan Pagliano, the State Department IT guru who has said he will plead the fifth rather than testify about his work on Hillary Clinton’s home-brew email server, is represented by a partner at a prestigious Washington D.C. law firm with close political and financial ties to the former secretary of state. The arrangement between Pagliano and Mark MacDougall of Akin Gump raises questions over whether the former Clinton aide merely sought to hire the best lawyer he could find for himself, or whether the Democratic presidential hopeful intervened in any way. (RELATED: Hillary Paid Her State Department IT Guy On The Side To Manage Private Server) As Clinton has come under more and more scrutiny for her use of a personal email account and an off-the-books email server, she offered a pseudo-apology on Friday. “At the end of the day, I am sorry that this has been confusing to people and has raised a lot of questions,” Clinton told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. Senator Wonders If Hillary Is Covering Legal Expenses For Tech Firm That Managed Her Email Server

November 26, 2015 by dailycaller.com

Republican Iowa Sen. [crscore]Chuck Grassley[/crscore], the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is questioning whether Hillary Clinton paid legal and public relations expenses for a former State Department aide and a tech company that worked on her private email system. “As you are aware, such arrangements can pose conflict-of-interest issues,” Grassley wrote in a letter he sent on Tuesday to attorneys representing Clinton and several of her State Department aides, including Bryan Pagliano, the IT staffer who managed Clinton’s email system while she was secretary of state. Grassley appears concerned that Clinton’s former aides and the tech companies she has hired to manage her mysterious email system would continue to work on her behalf rather than provide information on the email arrangement to investigators. “It is important for the Committee to know whether Secretary Clinton and her attorneys are providing financial support, legal support, or other coordination to … [Read more...] about Senator Wonders If Hillary Is Covering Legal Expenses For Tech Firm That Managed Her Email Server

Hillary Paid Her State Department IT Guy On The Side To Manage Private Server

September 5, 2015 by dailycaller.com

Hillary Clinton and her family paid a State Department staffer out of their own pockets to set up and operate her home-brew email server, The Washington Post reports . While the finding seemingly answers the question of whether the staffer, Bryan Pagliano, worked on Clinton’s private server on the government’s dime — the Clinton camp is asserting he didn’t — the arrangement raises other questions about how far Clinton went to set up an off-the-books email system. Clinton said in an interview that aired Friday that there were “so many problems around the world” when she took office in Jan. 2009, that she “didn’t really stop and think…what kind of e-mail system will there be?” But Pagliano’s hire indicates that Clinton and her team gave the system adequate forethought. The Clintons paid Pagliano $5,000 for “computer services” prior to his joining the State Department in May 2009, according to The Post. He continued to work on the server, which was located in the Clintons’ … [Read more...] about Hillary Paid Her State Department IT Guy On The Side To Manage Private Server

Hillary’s Highly Paid IT Guru At State Department Had No National Security Experience

September 4, 2015 by dailycaller.com

Hillary Clinton’s politically appointed State Department information technology manager had no national security experience and may have enjoyed a 55 percent pay hike after Clinton departed as secretary of state in February 2013, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation. Bryan Pagliano joined Clinton in 2009 as a top-level IT strategist and adviser. He previously was IT director of Clinton’s unsuccessful campaign for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. The White House personnel office must approve political appointees before they are hired. Pagliano was hired as a GS-15 even though he had no national security experience or security clearance. He was paid $140,000 annually at the outset but that was reduced to $136,000 in 2011 and 2012, according to the Asbury Park Press, which posts federal compensation data. In addition to his government salary, Pagliano also received compensation directly from the Clinton family, but did not list it on his annual … [Read more...] about Hillary’s Highly Paid IT Guru At State Department Had No National Security Experience
