The Supreme Court, on November 13, ruled that the Chief Justice of India’s Office is a public authority and is comes under the Right to Information Act (RTI).The apex court, in a majority verdict, also said that protection must be provided to the judges under the confidentiality clause.The verdict was delivered by a five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi. Other members of the bench are Justices NV Ramana, DY Chandrachud, Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna. The Supreme Court-mandated anti-pollution authority EPCA on November 13 ordered schools in Delhi-NCR to be closed for the next two days as pollution in the city hovered close to 'emergency' levels.
