There is perhaps no city more interested in backup quarterbacks and point guards than Philadelphia. At least in basketball, you don't have to bench Ben Simmons completely to get Bobby Hoying involved. The Markelle Fultz saga (I feel like saga is just attached to his name now, at this point) has thrust backup guard T.J. McConnell back into the spotlight for Philadelphia, with various rumors bubbling to the surface about his value around the league. Who better to turn to than Adrian Wojnarowski, who joined Ryen Russilo on last Thursday's episode of The Russilo Show, and had this to say about McConnell's value on the trade market: T.J. McConnell, who had been the source of some trade talks...think about this, T.J. McConnell probably could have gotten, in fact, I'm very confident T.J. could have gotten Philadelphia a first-round pick in the last few weeks. Markelle Fultz probably can't, think about that. There are so many teams who need a point guard, either a really strong backup or a … [Read more...] about NBA Trade Rumors: Can Sixers afford to turn down first-round pick for T.J. McConnell?

The Celtics face the Suns in Phoenix at 9 p.m., while the Bruins host the Canucks at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Patriots face the Titans in Tennessee, with Bill Belichick facing Mike Vrabel, one of his former players. Terry Rozier is at the center of some early season trade rumor back-and-forth: The Celtics have started the season with an uneven 6-4 record, despite having one of the deepest rosters in the NBA. Yet a byproduct of that depth of talent will be balancing not only minutes but salary cap figures. With Kyrie Irving announcing in October that he’s planning to stay in Boston for the long term, the likelihood of keeping fellow guard Terry Rozier in a new contract is diminished. This has led to speculation about his future with the team. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, trade interest has swirled around the 24-year-old: Quietly, at least seven teams have been monitoring Rozier’s status this season, league sources told The Athletic, waiting to see if the … [Read more...] about Morning sports update: Danny Ainge denies Terry Rozier trade rumors
The NFL's trade deadline is just around the corner. It seems pretty likely, especially if they can take care of the Jaguars in Week 8, that the Eagles will be buyers. Here is the latest buzz around some big names linked to Philly of late:Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, PackersThe Packers safety is entering a contract year and the team has a lot of depth at the position, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. And if the former first-round pick and Pro Bowler gets moved, Philadelphia is a reasonable landing spot. Rodney McLeod is probably out for the year and Corey Graham is banged up — the Eagles have been experimenting with rookie cornerback Avonte Maddox at the position. If the Eagles hope to contend down the stretch they may need some serious reinforcements in the secondary. With his contract expiring, the price for Clinton-Dix could be reasonable.Janoris Jenkins, Gareon Conley, CB, Giants/RaidersBoth the Giants and Raiders are in the midst of fire sales, and the Eagles … [Read more...] about NFL trade rumors: Are Eagles in on DeSean Jackson, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix or DeVante Parker?
The NFL trade deadline is now less than two weeks away, which is much closer than it even sounds, and the rumor mill seems to be working overtime compared to recent seasons — as typically it's the MLB and NBA deadlines that offer the most excitement. On Monday, our own Jimmy Kempski took a look at four areas of need on the Philadelphia Eagles that the team could look to upgrade before the deadline. So in today's trade-heavy edition of 'What They're Saying,' we're going to take a look at some of the latest NFL trade rumors and how they impact the Eagles, with a specific focus on the four positions Jimmy wrote about on Monday.Running backWe've heard the Le'Veon Bell and LeSean McCoy rumors for a while now — you can read the latest on McCoy, here — but what if the Eagles look to make a slightly smaller splash at the deadline, as Jimmy Kempski suggests:The Eagles could add a running back, but the need for a big name guy isn't there. If the Eagles deal for a back, I … [Read more...] about What they’re saying: How the latest NFL trade rumors impact the Eagles
The Sixers rather infamously struck out in their quest to go "star hunting" this offseason, but another opportunity to bring in a big-name player may have just risen from nothing. Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler has reportedly requested a trade following a meeting with head coach/GM Tom Thibodeau, following an offseason of speculation about his satisfaction with the organization. The reasons for Butler's request seem to center around his relationship with the young players Minnesota has chosen to build their future around, Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns and Butler have been at the center of rampant reports and rumors this summer, with insiders painting a picture of discontent between the two best players on the Wolves. As part of a video interview conducted earlier this week, The Athletic's Shams Charania suggested Towns had gone as far as to delay a decision on signing a max extension until the Butler situation was resolved. Other reporters, including Wolves … [Read more...] about NBA Trade Rumors: Should Sixers explore a deal for Wolves forward Jimmy Butler?
