NASA watchdog says the outlook isn’t good for its mega-moon rocket launcher
The NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG) published its report on the agency’s management of a second mobile launch tower for the space launch system (SLS) mega-moon rocket—and the forecast isn’t looking good. Right now, the OIG anticipates that the project will cost more than twice what was originally budgeted and will be completed roughly 2.5 years behind schedule. advertisement advertisement Some Quick background In order to launch SLS, the giant moon rocket NASA has been developing since 2011, the agency needs the ground infrastructure to support it. We’re calling this ‘the worst return to office strategy.’ Why this hybrid approach won’t work
In the annals of the return-to-office debate, many companies are taking the middle ground. Apple wants employees back in the offices three days a week, once COVID-19 rates stabilize. Citigroup, Google, and American Express are on the same track. A “three days in, two days out” or “two days in, three days out” hybrid model is emerging as a popular workplace plan, as a compromise between managers who want closer tabs on their people, and employees who feel happier and more productive working from home. But like most compromises, the 3-2 model leaves almost everyone feeling dissatisfied, prompting us to call it the “worst return-to-office strategy.” advertisement advertisement On the surface, the 3-2 model feels right: It provides a measure of autonomy that employees likely didn’t have pre-pandemic, and it increases the sense of status, certainty, and autonomy for leaders who feel the need to closely oversee their employees. In addition, … [Read more...] about We’re calling this ‘the worst return to office strategy.’ Why this hybrid approach won’t work
The Best Point-And-Shoot Cameras Capture Amazing Photos With Ease
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The best point-and-shoot cameras in 2022 have their advantages—particularly for capturing great-looking images on the go. The cameras built into the latest smartphones (including the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max , Google Pixel 6 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra ) can produce images that rival those from point-and-shoot cameras. But standalone point-and-shoot cameras remain a strong choice for amateur, enthusiast and professional photographers alike. These cameras are typically small in size and weight compared with their larger mirrorless or digital SLR cousins. Some have ruggedized designs or extra-long zoom lenses. All offer an Auto mode, which means you simply frame shots using the viewfinder or rear display and then press the shutter button to snap a photo. Most also offer specialty photo preset modes for use in specific situations. All can shoot at least high-definition video, and many can shoot 4K or higher resolution … [Read more...] about The Best Point-And-Shoot Cameras Capture Amazing Photos With Ease

Why More Comedians Are Putting Their Specials On YouTube
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “Everybody’s got to hear how special they are,” Chicago-based comedian and WGN Morning News sports anchor Pat Tomasulo set up a bit in his new YouTube special, Pat Tomasulo: What A Time To Be Alive , with. “[If] you don’t, they’ll just come right out and tell you. One of my buddies posted on Facebook... he writes, ‘Feeling a little bit down today, could you guys say something about me to get me going, to do what I need to do?’ “I was like, ‘Uh, your rent is due next week; get off your a**. Did that get you doing? I’m not on here to inspire you, I’m here to look up high school girlfriends...” Tomasulo is helping keep a trend, set by other comics a few years ago, in tact by putting his special on YouTube, rather than court and rely on TV networks or streaming services. “I think the main reason I decided to put it on YouTube is because Netflix NFLX didn’t return a single one of my emails,” Tomasulo, who … [Read more...] about Why More Comedians Are Putting Their Specials On YouTube
TheDC Morning: Obama thinks ATMs cause unemployment
1.) Obama thinks ATMs cause unemployment — No, really, he does! That’s not a joke headline. He said it out loud in front of the whole world and everything. On yesterday’s Today Show, Obama told Ann Curry his brilliant theory about why the economy hasn’t been doing so well since he became president: “There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don’t go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate.” That’s right, the Smartest President Ever just said innovation is a job-killer. His next step, presumably, will be to demonize the Republicans for making such deep cuts to the Department of Buggy Whips. Hey, why is the President of the United States blaming machines for unemployment … on TELEVISION? Doesn’t he care about all those out-of-work town criers? 2.) DNC = Dishonest … [Read more...] about TheDC Morning: Obama thinks ATMs cause unemployment
