The Union health ministry is set to organise a three-day "Chintan Shivir" from May 5 with states beginning to prepare the roadmap for India's healthcare system for the next 25 years. The meet, to be chaired by health minister Mansukh Mandaviya, will be held in Gujarat's Kevadiya. It is organised after a gap of two years. The main objective of the meet is to promote healthcare that is accessible and affordable and touch themes like "Heal in India" and "Heal by India". Health insurance premium collected in India grew 25% during peak COVID year

The total health insurance premium collected in India grew by a whopping 25 percent in just a year, possibly due to the huge rush by people to protect themselves and their families from catastrophic out-of-pocket medical expenses arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and increase in the premium cost. A paper titled Health Insurance in 2042: Challenges and Opportunities prepared by the National Insurance Academy under the Union finance ministry has revealed that while Rs 58,572 crore was collected in 2020-21 as health insurance premium by insurance companies, this figured jumped to Rs 73,330 crore in the next financial year. Centre to launch a national public health observatory for integration of government schemes
The Union Health Ministry is preparing a portal that will serve as an observatory for all public health programme-related data in India. The National Public Health Observatory (NHPO) will have an integrated command control centre to monitor the policy implication framework across all states for public health programmes in India, said a ministry official, who did not want to be identified. The concept behind NHPO will be to analyse ongoing programmes, and based on that analysis, strategies will be prepared for public policy-related implications. “During a health emergency, this data observatory will act as a data control centre, it will also help in core policy planning otherwise,” the official added. Nancy: Tourism sector needs 15,000 to 20,000 workers
KUCHING: Malaysia’s tourism sector is facing a shortage of about 15,000 to 20,000 workers, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri ( pic ). The Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister said the estimate was obtained from data from national tourism associations. However, she said the problem of labour shortage was not only faced by the tourism sector but also involved all other industries in the country. According to her, the government is now trying to address the issue, including by bringing in workers from abroad. “We have relayed this matter (the problem of shortage of workers) to the Cabinet and the government has given approval to bring in workers from abroad. “The matter has just been approved and has to go through several processes, so we have to wait,” she told reporters at an event with tourism industry players here yesterday.
