EXCLUSIVE: Senate Democrats Offer Tepid Support For Kamala Harris Amid Critical Media Reports

March 16, 2023 by dailycaller.com

Amid media reports questioning her political acumen and base competence, Democrats in the Senate are offering tepid support for Vice President Kamala Harris. President Joe Biden has assigned Harris — who dropped out of the 2020 presidential primaries before the Iowa caucuses — a policy portfolio that includes election law and immigration. However, critics charge that the vice president does not prepare for meetings and is out of her depth politically. Others worry that she would lose the 2024 presidential election in the event that Biden could not seek a second term in office. (RELATED: REPORT: Democrats Hit Panic Button Over Kamala’s Bad Press, Call In Damage Control Experts) In interviews with the Daily Caller, four Democratic or Independent senators declined to say whether they would endorse Harris remaining on the executive ticket as vice president in 2024, four others apparently deferred their decision to Biden and nine offered a direct endorsement. The Implications Of DeSantis’ 19 State Anti-ESG Alliance

March 19, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was joined by 18 Governors, all Republicans, in an announced alliance against environmental, social, and governance (ESG). The announcement specifically calls for the utilization of their respective state pension funds to undermine ESG efforts in the United States. The statement emphasized the following: “We as freedom loving states can work together and leverage our state pension funds to force change in how major asset managers invest the money of hardworking Americans, ensuring corporations are focused on maximizing shareholder value, rather than the proliferation of woke ideology.” Divesting state pension funds from ESG linked investments has become a first step for states wanting to take action against ESG. State pension funds are typically managed by a small board who make decisions based on their fiduciary duty, as defined under state statutes. In Florida, the Trustees of the State … [Read more...] about The Implications Of DeSantis’ 19 State Anti-ESG Alliance

Biden Vetoes Republican-Led Bill On ESGs

March 20, 2023 by dailycaller.com

President Joe Biden vetoed the first bill of his presidency on Monday, halting a Republican-led effort to overturn a federal rule allowing retirement plan advisers to take environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors into account. “I just signed this veto because the legislation passed by the Congress would put at risk the retirement savings of individuals across the country. They couldn’t take into consideration investments that would be impacted by climate, impacted by overpaying executives. And that’s why I decided to veto it. It makes sense to veto it,” Biden said in a video. I just vetoed my first bill. This bill would risk your retirement savings by making it illegal to consider risk factors MAGA House Republicans don’t like. Your plan manager should be able to protect your hard-earned savings — whether Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene likes it or not. pic.twitter.com/PxuoJBdEee — President Biden (@POTUS) March 20, 2023 “This bill would risk your … [Read more...] about Biden Vetoes Republican-Led Bill On ESGs

Busting That Chinese Spy Balloon Is Harder Than You Think (Updated: ‘Well That Was Easy’)

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Pentagon has been tracking a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon which flew over sensitive areas in Montana in recent days, apparently the latest of several such incursions. President Biden reportedly proposed that the intruder be shot down , but the Pentagon opposed this action, citing the risk of civilian casualties. In fact, bringing down this type of balloon may be extremely difficult, as it is likely to be highly resistant to the available weapons. It may look fragile, but the sheer size and construction of a stratospheric balloon makes it all but invulnerable. There is also the problem of getting to it. Such balloons ride high in the stratosphere , far above the airliners. They do this to take advantage of the change in wind direction with altitude to steer themselves to where they are needed like sailing ships, then circling above a point of interest. The U.S. military has its own stratospheric spy … [Read more...] about Busting That Chinese Spy Balloon Is Harder Than You Think (Updated: ‘Well That Was Easy’)

Here Are The 14 States Moving To Prohibit Sexually Explicit Drag Shows For Minors

March 20, 2023 by dailycaller.com

In March, Tennessee became the first state to bar sexually explicit drag shows from public places where minors may be exposed. Other red states such as Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas are following Tennessee’s lead, pushing for similar legislation against such performances. “Just as state legislatures have worked to protect children from harmful cross-sex hormones or experimental surgeries, they are also tackling the broader problem of activist educators and administrators attempting to influence young children and push the left’s radical gender ideology,” Jessica Anderson, Heritage Action executive director, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. After Tennessee became the first state to prohibit drag shows in places where children may be present, several red states are pushing for similar legislation. States including Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas are focused on passing legislation that would restrict or outlaw sexually explicit drag shows … [Read more...] about Here Are The 14 States Moving To Prohibit Sexually Explicit Drag Shows For Minors

Ben Affleck Is ‘Disturbed’ By J-Lo’s Obsession With ‘Yellowstone’

March 23, 2023 by dailycaller.com

Actor Ben Affleck said Wednesday that he is “kind of disturbed” that his wife, singer Jennifer Lopez, is really into the hit cowboy drama “Yellowstone.” Talking with Matt Damon on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” to promote their new film, “Air,” Affleck admitted that his wife is a big fan of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount series. Lopez is especially into two of the characters: Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler ( Cole Hauser ), according to Affleck. “I’m kind of disturbed that my wife really likes ‘Yellowstone,'” Affleck said, laughing. Apparently J-Lo and Affleck are both fans of Reilly, who portrays the only daughter of fictional Montana Gov. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) on the series. Affleck noted that Reilly’s work was “excellent” as Beth, and that he had no idea she was British. Millions May See Northern Lights Tonight Thanks To ‘Holes’ Around The Earth And Sun

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s not well known, but spring and fall are prime times of year for spotting the aurora borealis in the northern hemisphere and the aurora australis in the south. Ironically, the flare activity that typically creates geomagnetic storms and bright aurora is relatively low right now. But around each equinox in late March and September we get an aurora season due to something called the Russell-McPherron effect having to do with the geometry of Earth’s magnetic field and the solar wind. The solar wind is the charged particles of radiation that are always flowing outward from the sun into the solar system, but it gets a boost when there is flare or a “coronal hole” in the outer layers of the sun that allows more solar wind to rush in our direction. The Skills Gap Turning Climate Policy Helter-Skelter

March 24, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Paul McCartney showed up at my alma mater last month . With the passing of Queen Elizabeth, the cute Beatle is now the UK’s most famous and honored citizen. He’s also a fascinating character, namely (1) an habitual pot smoker (busted five times) who – starting with John/George/Ringo and continuing for decades – alienated a parade of bandmates with overly controlling behavior (no one should ever be subjected to performing Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da for 42 hours ); (2) an unparalleled ballad singer-songwriter equally facile with hard rocking numbers where he could use his screaming “Little Richard” voice ( Yesterday and I’m Down were recorded the same day); (3) a musician with an overly acute sense of right and wrong – perhaps because he could play everyone else’s instruments better than they could – who often selected mediocre songs for albums over demonstrably better ones ; and (4) a melodic genius who tends to produce … [Read more...] about The Skills Gap Turning Climate Policy Helter-Skelter

The Most Climate-Resilient Places To Live From A Natural Disaster Perspective

March 23, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin CoreLogic, a property data and analytics provider, has announced the results of its “ Safest Places to Live ” study that details the least risky places to live in the U.S. from a natural disaster perspective. While severe thunderstorms and flooding pose risk to most homes in the U.S., McKinley County, New Mexico emerged as the least risky county to live due to its lack of hurricane and earthquake risk. Additionally, five counties in Colorado rank in the top 10 for lowest-risk areas for natural catastrophes. CoreLogic deployed its Climate Risk Analytics: Composite Risk Score solution to identify counties that are currently at low risk and stress-tests natural disaster risks over the next 30 years across various future climate scenarios. The climate scenarios include a base climate where conditions do not change and a progressively worsening climate noted as “Scenario 8.5.” RCP 8.5 is one of a suite of scenarios … [Read more...] about The Most Climate-Resilient Places To Live From A Natural Disaster Perspective
