Aviation minister asks Delhi, Bengaluru airports to install DigiYatra at all boarding gates
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on January 18 said that he has asked the airport operators of Delhi and Bengaluru airports to install DigiYatra service at all boarding gates for domestic passengers. "We have seen close to 300,000 downloads for both the DigiYatra and DigiLocker mobile applications since its launch," the minister said at the sidelines of the 14th International Civil Aviation Conference organised by Assocham. He added that nearly 4 percent of all daily domestic passengers traveling out of Delhi and Bengaluru use DigiYatra while traveling, while 20 percent of all passengers use the application while traveling from Varanasi airport. Scindia added that the government is pushing for the adoption of DigiYatra across airports across the country and has asked airlines to make announcements about the application on board. PHL to launch chopper services connecting four major cities in Assam
Representative Image National helicopter carrier Pawan Hans Ltd (PHL) will be launching helicopter services on six routes in Assam on February 8. The helicopter services launched by the central public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, will help connect four major cities of the northeastern state of Assam. The Assam chopper service launch is expected to boost trade and tourism in the state. PHL is launching its RCS UDAN services to provide connectivity on the “Dibrugarh-Jorhat-Tezpur-Guwahati-Tezpur-Jorhat-Dibrugarh” network in the first phase, the PSU said in a statement released on February 6. Subsequently, the services will be operationalised in Arunachal Pradesh, it added. Notably, PHL has been awarded 86 routes across six states under the RCS UDAN Scheme. GoFirst has held back payments worth Rs 5 crore to employees, vendors in February
GoFirst aims to have 53 operational aircraft in its fleet by the start of April. The Wadia Group-controlled no-frills carrier GoFirst has withheld payments worth Rs 5 crore in February to its employees, hotel vendors, and transport vendors, multiple officials aware of the situation told Moneycontrol. "The airline regularly pays its fuel vendor, but all the rest are paid intermittently and this month at least, hotels and transport vendors have not been paid," an official working with GoFirst said. He added that the airline has paid employees up to the designation of an assistant manager including its ground staff and cabin crew, but has yet to pay senior staff in all departments including pilots and engineers. "Entry-level pilots usually make around Rs 1-1.25 lakh as salary every month while senior pilots make around Rs 5 lakh as salary every month," an industry insider said. GoFirst asks protesting technicians to return to work, rejects demand for pay hike

Low-cost carrier GoFirst has asked its protesting aircraft maintenance technicians to return to work by July 14 or risk being terminated after the airline's management met employees on "mass leave" in both Delhi and Mumbai on July 13. Technicians Moneycontrol spoke to said the airline management has told them that their request for a salary hike is not being considered and if they continue to not report to work, their contracts will be terminated. Around 150 of GoFirst's employees reported sick on July 13, they said. Technicians and cabin crew of GoFirst have been on "mass sick leave" for the last four days in multiple stations across India. The employees have asked the management to increase salaries and reimburse some technicians for working without pay between April 2020 and November 2021. The employees have asked the airline to increase the salaries of junior technicians to Rs 30,000 a month from Rs 19,000 currently.
