- A + A SINGAPORE (June 28): When Canadian expat Michelle went to renew the lease on her three-story house in Singapore in May, her landlord wanted to raise the rent by almost 40%. Michelle tried to negotiate but the owner wouldn’t budge on the S$10,000 (US$7,200) a month asking price. She’s moving her family into a three-bedroom apartment next month. “I took what I could get,” said Michelle, who asked not to use her full name on concern it may impact her business in the city-state. There’s “a lot of greed at the moment.” Rents are skyrocketing in Singapore, particularly in the prime accommodation favored by expatriate residents, as surging demand from locals and newer arrivals collides with pandemic-induced delays in supply. Rental prices for the private properties leased by expats are rising on average by 20% to 40%, according to 10 real estate agents interviewed by Bloomberg , though some landlords are even asking for double the previous rent. Apple Just Updated a Product No One Even Knew It Still Sold
It's official. It's finally here. The brand new, updated, turbo-charged, better than ever... iPod Touch? Wait, the iPod might be one of the most significant innovations Apple has ever created, but did anyone know it still actually sold them? I'm pretty sure I still have a 5th generation iPod Video in a drawer somewhere. I even swapped out the original hard drive for a compact flash card a few years ago, but I haven't used it since I bought an iPhone . It turns out not only does Apple sell them, but the company just announced it has updated them with the A10 Fusion processor from the iPhone 7, with support for augmented reality (AR) and Group FaceTime. Apple's announcement includes an especially interesting quote from Greg Joswiak, who is Apple's vice president of product marketing. In it, Joswiak says that Apple's "making the most affordable iOS device even better with performance that is twice as fast as before." Here's why that's interesting. He … [Read more...] about Apple Just Updated a Product No One Even Knew It Still Sold

The statement comes one day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the air strike as “one of the most defiant terrorist attacks in European history,” and urged the United States to consider Russia a “state sponsor of terrorism.” As of Tuesday morning, Ukraine’s Crisis Media Center reported 18 people had died in Monday’s missile … [Read more...] about Russia Denies Attacking Ukrainian Shopping Center As It Claims Airstrike Hit Weapons Depot Containing U.S. Arms
Leaders, Don’t Make This Classic Mistake When Giving Constructive Feedback
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Virtually every leader has been in this situation. One of your team members gives a presentation or presents a deliverable that is somewhere between lackluster and utterly disappointing. Afterwards, you know that you need to follow up with them to provide much needed constructive criticism to not just avoid a repeat of the dismal performance but also to help support their overall professional development. Unfortunately, too many leaders will make the classic mistake of focusing the conversation almost exclusively on their opinion and coaching but miss the opportunity to lead with inquiring about the team member’s opinion. Indeed, one of the most powerful and effective ways a leader can start that constructive feedback conversation is by simply asking, “How do you think it went? or “How did you feel about today’s presentation?” Starting with this simple question is so effective because it gives you a sense of their level of … [Read more...] about Leaders, Don’t Make This Classic Mistake When Giving Constructive Feedback
