Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Joe Ingles, who had an uncertain start to his Milwaukee Bucks’ career, is beginning to repay the franchise for their trust and belief in him. Like his NBA career, his Bucks’ tenure began in a cloud of ambiguity. He signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal last summer, using the team’s entire taxpayer midlevel exception—the only tool they had available to bring in new talent (besides veteran minimum contracts). That was unusual because he was coming off a torn ACL he had suffered just five months earlier and neither party knew when he could return to the court. As the season got closer, it was evident Ingles’ recovery was progressing on a positive timeline—a massive relief for everyone involved. ACL recoveries can be tricky and sometimes linger longer than anyone would like. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case in this scenario. Ingles made his Bucks’ debut on December 19th after missing the team’s first 29 games. It was a … [Read more...] about Milwaukee Bucks Patience With Joe Ingles Is Paying Off

Joe Ingles-Brook Lopez Are Milwaukee Bucks Odd Couple
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Much like Joe Ingles’ game, we should slow down and appreciate his work for the Milwaukee Bucks this season. His passing has been magnificent, as he’s found an equally sloth-like partner to team up with: Brook Lopez. The duo is a fascinating case study, proving there are more ways to prosper in the NBA besides speed and athleticism. Both players are past their athletic primes (if they ever had such a thing) and have had to adapt their aging games to continue succeeding in the NBA at a high level. A master manipulator, Ingles deceives defenses with ball fakes, eye contact and geometry to find passing lanes that didn’t seem to exist one second earlier. Ingles receives a ball screen from his partner-in-crime near the Orlando Magic logo for the first component of a Spain pick-and-roll. While Lopez dives toward the rim, Khris Middleton pops out to the three-point line to complete the second part. Ingles stuns Orlando … [Read more...] about Joe Ingles-Brook Lopez Are Milwaukee Bucks Odd Couple
This $10 Million New York City Residence Has Versace Furniture Once Owned By Gianni Versace Himself
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s not everyday that a New York City penthouse comes on the market with furniture from Gianni Versace’s personal collection. This duplex penthouse unit, located on the top two floors 50 Madison Avenue in the city’s NoMad neighborhood, recently listed for $10 million. It includes pieces that the prior owner purchased in a Sotheby’s auction shortly after Versace’s murder. Not only are the pieces incredibly rare, but they are being sold with the unit. The 3,564-square-foot, four-bedroom, and three-and-a-half-bathroom duplex has sprawling living spaces, 1,500 square feet of private outdoor space, and key-locked elevator access. Not enough? The unit also has herringbone hardwood floors, built-in shelving, an eat-in … [Read more...] about This $10 Million New York City Residence Has Versace Furniture Once Owned By Gianni Versace Himself
No Longer Sleepless In Seattle, Young Mariners On Mission To Win First Pennant In Team History
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s not for lack of trying. The Seattle Mariners will start the 2023 baseball season March 30 as the only one of the 30 major-league teams that has never won a pennant. Created as a 1977 expansion team to fill the void created by the failure of the Seattle Pilots after one season, the M’s have had their share of great players, including Hall of Famers Ken Griffey, Jr., Randy Johnson, and Edgar Martinez. They’ve also had some amazing years, including a 116-win season – most in American League history and tied with the 1906 Chicago Cubs for the most victories ever. Those 2001 Mariners went 116-46, posting a .716 winning percentage, but lost to the New York Yankees in the playoffs. It was downhill from there, with Seattle not returning to post-season play before last year, when they went 90-72 to finish second to the Houston Astros in the American League West. The wild-card win wasn’t enough, however, as the … [Read more...] about No Longer Sleepless In Seattle, Young Mariners On Mission To Win First Pennant In Team History

Book Preview And Author Q&A: ‘ON BRAND’ By Aliza Licht And Its Fashion Origins And Implications
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin If you think you’ve heard more buzz about the need to build a “personal brand” recently, you’re not imagining it: Google GOOG searches for the term have increased nearly 50% over the past five years. But how to go about building your brand, especially while working within organizations rather than as an entrepreneur, can be a mystery. Enter Aliza Licht, a former communications executive for Donna Karan, Alice + Olivia, and Warby Parker, who taught herself how to authentically tell a brand’s story and foster a passionate fan base around it before rebranding herself. In her latest book, ON BRAND: Shape Your Narrative. Share Your Vision. Shift Their Perception (Union Square & Co.; April 18, 2023) , Licht breaks down what she’s learned working for retail brands and for herself and lays out a roadmap for individuals coming from any industry who want to define and, yes, promote your personal brand. It would be hard to … [Read more...] about Book Preview And Author Q&A: ‘ON BRAND’ By Aliza Licht And Its Fashion Origins And Implications
