Indonesia now Asia’s Covid-19 epicentre as daily cases exceed India
Photo by Fadil Fauzi for Unsplash Indonesia has become the epicentre of Covid-19 in Asia as the daily case count has exceeded India’s. The country reported 56,757 new cases and 982 coronavirus-related deaths yesterday, surpassing India’s count of 39,072 new cases and 544 deaths. With the highest number of daily cases, the archipelago country of 270 million people is now the new Covid-hotspot in Asia, and if the spread continues at its current rate, experts say it could send the nation’s healthcare system into chaos. But to put that into perspective, per capita, it’s about the same rate of new cases as Thailand at this time. Some speculate that the numbers in Indonesia are in fact much higher than reported. In Jakarta, almost half of the 10.6 million residents contracted Covid-19, according to a recent survey. With the recent uptick in cases said to be due to the emergence of the highly transmissible Delta variant, officials are concerned the healthcare system won’t be able to … [Read more...] about Indonesia now Asia’s Covid-19 epicentre as daily cases exceed India

Putin welcomes China’s Xi to Kremlin amid Ukraine fighting
By VLADIMIR ISACHENKOV (Associated Press) MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin warmly welcomed Chinese leader Xi Jinping to the Kremlin on Monday, a visit that sent a powerful message to Western leaders allied with Ukraine that their efforts to isolate Moscow have fallen short. Xi’s trip — his first abroad since his re-election earlier this month — showed off Beijing’s new diplomatic swagger and gave a political lift to Putin just days after an international arrest warrant was issued for the Kremlin leader on war crimes charges related to Ukraine. The two major powers have described Xi’s three-day trip as an opportunity to deepen their “no-limits friendship.” China looks to Russia as a source of oil and gas for its energy-hungry economy, and as a partner in standing up to what both see as U.S. domination of global affairs. The two countries, which are among the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, also have held joint military drills. They shook … [Read more...] about Putin welcomes China’s Xi to Kremlin amid Ukraine fighting
EXCLUSIVE: Ted Cruz Introduces Three Bills To Accelerate Oil And Gas Permitting
Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz introduced three pieces of legislation Monday that would accelerate oil and gas permitting in the U.S. to make energy secure in the country. The Daily Caller first obtained the three bills, the first of which is titled the Energy Freedom Act. The legislation would accelerate federal permitting for energy projects and pipelines; mandate new onshore and offshore oil and gas lease sales; approve pending liquified natural gas (LNG) export licenses; and speed up solar, wind and geothermal development. The second bill, titled the Federal Permitting Modernization Act (FAST Act), would require federal agencies to reform and prioritize federal approvals by requiring timelines: five days for federal agencies to notify the public of the project by publishing details in the Federal Register; 30 days to publish those environmental documents for review; 60 days for the public to comment on those documents and 30 days for the public to approve or disapprove the … [Read more...] about EXCLUSIVE: Ted Cruz Introduces Three Bills To Accelerate Oil And Gas Permitting
OKC Thunder To Face Most Pivotal Road Trip Of Season
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “The core of your team gets built on the road,” said Oklahoma City Thunder coach Mark Daigneault on Sunday evening before the team hit the road for a trip out west. To him, road trips are great for a developing young team and there are plenty of lessons to be learned. “I love playing on the road. It’s a great test,” said Daigneault. “It’s strips away everything except for your team. It’s just you. I actually think road games, wins and losses, build a lot of chemistry because it limits a lot of distractions.” While these games are great tests, they’re extremely difficult to win. In fact, only two teams in the entire Western Conference have a winning record on the road this season. Oklahoma City is currently 13-21 away from Paycom Center in the 2022-23 campaign and facing a pivotal a four-game road trip. Over the course of the next week, the Thunder will play the LA Clippers twice, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers … [Read more...] about OKC Thunder To Face Most Pivotal Road Trip Of Season

Remember These 7 Public Speaking Basics When Presenting Overseas
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I recently traveled to Pakistan after being invited to speak about personal branding with a group of entrepreneurs and business owners in Lahore and Karachi. I’d never been to that part of the world before, and I wasn’t at all familiar with the business, professional, or cultural scene there. Delivering a workshop on the other side of the world where you’re unfamiliar with the language, culture, and local dynamics presents unique challenges for speakers whose job is to hold the attention of an audience for several hours. As someone who regularly gives talks to international audiences, I was confident I could host a valuable workshop, but acutely aware this specific assignment would be challenging due to my extremely limited knowledge of the region. My days in Pakistan were eye-opening to say the least, both personally and professionally. Presenting in a completely different region illuminated some of my blind spots, and … [Read more...] about Remember These 7 Public Speaking Basics When Presenting Overseas
