Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Go off the beaten path and drink local with the locals Like all major European capitals, Rome’s touristy neighborhoods are hard to avoid or, sometimes, resist. After a journey of missed connections, jumbled travel directions and mangled language if you’re not an Italian speaker, it’s tempting to fall into a neighborhood like Trastevere, where English is widely spoken and familiar menu items can entice you to give in and settle for something comfortable. But, don’t. If you want to eat and drink like a Roman, get off the beaten track. Just across the river, the adjoining historically working-class neighborhoods of Testaccio and Ostiense have bloomed in the past decade, becoming destinations for more authentic eating and drinking. They’re no secret to the well-traveled set or frequent visitors to Rome, but you’ll see few fanny-packers, selfie sticks and white sneakers here. Take the subway ( Metropolitana ) to the … [Read more...] about When in Rome, Drink Like A Roman

Woman From India Leads As Winemaker At Beloved Napa Winery To Build A Better Tomorrow After Tragedy
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin As the terrifying words and shocking photos showing fierce fires destroying thousands of acres of land flooded social media, it was hard to not feel helpless. The over 50 mph winds assisted the fire in covering so much ground in such a short time that people who thought they were out of harm’s way would quickly realize within the same hour that they needed to evacuate as soon as possible. The direction of the wind changed constantly making it impossible for anyone within Napa Valley and Sonoma County to know if they were truly safe, as fleeing one’s home had many downsides since temporarily living in a crowded community center seemed to be a torturous alternative, or much worse, one could accidentally drive into the heart of one of the fast and furious fires, trapped with no way out. Many living outside of northern California stayed glued to the internet to see if friends or colleagues in the wine industry were doing okay. … [Read more...] about Woman From India Leads As Winemaker At Beloved Napa Winery To Build A Better Tomorrow After Tragedy
Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez rushes to help elderly man who collapsed on flight
Camille Vasquez, the Hollywood lawyer who gained international recognition after representing actor Johnny Depp in his defamation case against former wife Amber Heard, is once again making headlines. Earlier this week, the 37-year-old who became known on social media as the “queen of cross-examination” for her role in the closely watched six-week trial, was on a flight from Los Angeles to New York City when an elderly passage collapsed mid-flight, TMZ reported. The incident took place in the first-class cabin of an American Airlines flight. The man, who’s believed to be in his 70s, reportedly fell to the floor and hit his head as he walked past Vasquez and her bodyguard. After crew members asked for help, Vasquez reportedly rushed to tend to the injured passenger. She was able to get in touch with her brother-in-law, who’s a doctor, and who guided her through steps to check if the passenger was having a heart attack or if the fall had led to a brain bleed. Vasquez, who was … [Read more...] about Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez rushes to help elderly man who collapsed on flight

Sailing Turkey’s Turquoise Coast In Memorable Style: ScicSailing
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When Loes Douze started a sailing company in the brilliant waters around southwest Turkey, hardly anyone was going to Bodrum. It was 1993, after all, that the world had yet to discover the Turquoise Coast, a place that more than lives up its name (not exactly taken from the shade of the sea, but one that might as well have been). What a difference three decades makes. Now those waters—especially as plied aboard a traditional Turkish gulet or ketch (wooden sailing yacht)—are one of the world’s most popular sailing destinations, and a wish-list item for even wanna-be sailors. A quick Google search turns up dozens of companies offering charters. But Douze’s company, ScicSailing , still stands out. First, there’s the pioneering experience that she and her Turkish business partner bring to the proceedings. Then there’s her dedication to the name, which stands for Sailing Cruises in Comfort and which she pronounces … [Read more...] about Sailing Turkey’s Turquoise Coast In Memorable Style: ScicSailing
Drinking Martinis, Scotch And Tequila With Daisy Fuentes
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin What's better than interviewing a superstar singer/songwriter about his favorite drinks? When his equally famous wife says she wants to talk about her favorite drinks too. Daisy Fuentes may leave the music to her husband Richard Marx, but she's conquered nearly every other avenue of entertainment: MTV VJ, model, actress, television host, spokesperson as well as creating her own lifestyle brand Daisy Fuentes Style . I spoke with Fuentes about when she discovered martinis, why she switched to a plant-based diet and why most people approach tequila the wrong way. Richard says you're the one who scopes out the local restaurants for the after-show dinner when he's on tour. How did you get that responsibility? I've always been a foodie. I think there is great pleasure in the ceremony of getting together and enjoying food and drink. It's a great way to connect. Some people have their lunch standing up while … [Read more...] about Drinking Martinis, Scotch And Tequila With Daisy Fuentes
The Delevingne Sisters On Prosecco, Pandemics And Pink Drinks
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Given Chloe, Poppy and Cara Delevingne’s respective professional successes over the years, it’s surprising it took a global pandemic to join forces. The sisters’ very first collaborative venture—Della Vite—launched in the UK in August 2020 with the unveiling of two premium Proseccos: Della Vite Prosecco Superiore DOCG and Della Vite Treviso DOC. And, despite a general apathy towards the Italian sparkling wine at the time, it went down a storm. “I think for anyone bringing a new product to the market, there are always concerns associated with it, but there was something quite liberating about bring something new, fresh and exciting to a category which didn’t have the best reputation,” says Chloe. “Entry-level Prosecco is a saturated market, but there aren’t many better-quality options out there. People don’t tend to have a favourite brand of Prosecco in the same way as they do champagne or gin. That’s what we’re … [Read more...] about The Delevingne Sisters On Prosecco, Pandemics And Pink Drinks
