Middle East Rapprochements: Who Is Standing To Lose?

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Change is brewing in the Middle East. The region’s political landscape transforms as rapprochements emerge. In a turn startling observers, China has brokered a détente between Iran and Saudi Arabia, whose enmity has long been a cornerstone of Middle Eastern strife. Within mere days under Beijing’s watch, the reconciliation between these regional powerhouses altered the political landscape’s main contours. Yet, the Saudi-Iran reconciliation is not the only instance of regional realignment — efforts are also underway to rehabilitate the Assad regime back into the regional fold. As new alliances crystallize, winners and losers emerge in their wake. These developments have far-reaching implications for the region's actors, and understanding their roots and consequences is essential for any observer. Gaining momentum, the China-brokered Saudi-Iran normalization progresses, as reopening embassies and increasing … [Read more...] about Middle East Rapprochements: Who Is Standing To Lose?

Whoops QE: Good News And Bad News

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It must be said that all the banking pros predicted that QT wouldn’t last and that QE would start soon enough and that was why stocks were not going to crash any further in the winter of 2022. I thought this unlikely because the central banks would zig and zag but nonetheless get a fair way along the tightening path and pause it at some point for good after more stock market pain. QE = Bull QT = Bear Now these bankers did not predict their own demise as the reason for this end of QT (quantitative tightening) but here we are. How ironic. Here is a chart of the Federal Reserve Balance Sheet: About half of the tightening that has crimped the stock market has been reversed by a QE move. That is probably bad news for inflation and probably good for the market. What does this mean going forwards? It means tightening is over for quite a while and inflation is unlikely to come crashing down anytime soon. … [Read more...] about Whoops QE: Good News And Bad News

Take It From Notre Dame Top Leaders: They Can Save NCAA From NFL, NBA, NILs And Just About Everything Else

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Everything was true regarding what the two most powerful men associated with University of Notre Dame athletics wrote this week in an op-ed piece for the New York Times NYT about the state of college athletics. To paraphrase: Despite such things as CBS and Turner paying around $1 billion per year through 2032 for the men’s basketball tournament, doom and gloom are on the way for the NCAA, suggested Notre Dame president John I. Jenkins and Jack Swarbrick, the athletics director of the Fighting Irish. Among the evils cited by Jenkins and Swarbrick is the way college athletes are getting paid through name, image and likeness (NIL) deals. Well, some are, but the overwhelming majority of them aren’t. While quarterback Bryce Young finished his Alabama career in January earning an estimated $3.5 million in NIL deals, NIL platform INFLCR puts the median transaction at $53 . Which means if you think it … [Read more...] about Take It From Notre Dame Top Leaders: They Can Save NCAA From NFL, NBA, NILs And Just About Everything Else

Does It Make Sense To Delay Motherhood For Your Career?

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin One major consideration for women, specifically women who want a family, is how motherhood will impact their careers. And one question these women often ask themselves is whether it makes sense to delay motherhood in order to realize their full potential. Motherhood penalizes professional women in several ways. Not only does it negatively affect their income and leadership status, it also influences their ability to get promoted and hired. They are often overlooked when it comes to career-advancing opportunities. A recent survey of 1,000 U.S. women who chose to delay motherhood after the age of 35 by WIN , a leading family-building benefits provider, revealed motivating factors, challenges, and benefits to women’s decisions and how fertility benefits factor into the journey. According to the survey, relationships, lifestyle, and finances were major considerations that impacted women’s decisions. By waiting to … [Read more...] about Does It Make Sense To Delay Motherhood For Your Career?
