Matthew McConaughey explains his tech investment strategy

May 20, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

If you hear a man speaking in a Southern drawl, and he’s talking in pseudo-Zen koans about love and success and family, while also analyzing moments in life according to his traffic-light-inspired moral roadmap, chances are he’s Matthew McConaughey. advertisement advertisement The actor-turned-author, whose best-selling 2020 memoir Greenlights charted his personal escapades and career fluctuations, has become something of a self-help spiritualist since his book’s publication. (For the uninitiated, a green light is basically an action taken in the present that will help your future self. The book is also stuffed with folksy aphorisms, like “I’d rather lose money havin’ fun than make money being bored.”) Now, perhaps in search of even greener lights, McConaughey has taken his repartee to the tech industry. Earlier this month, he was a featured speaker at Dell Technologies World, the computing giant’s showcase event, in Las Vegas, … [Read more...] about Matthew McConaughey explains his tech investment strategy

May 14, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

"How do I edit a typo on twitter? Oh right….,” Amazon boss Jeff Bezos said. Amazon boss Jeff Bezos has taken a dig at Twitter for not having an edit button yet, amid the commotion surrounding its deal with Elon Musk. Musk, whose deal to acquire Twitter is presently on hold, has advocated for the feature’s availability on the social network. On May 14, Bezos made an error while responding to a tweet about how companies should go about internal communications. “I see a lot of organizations relying too much on slide decks relative to actual written memos for their internal communications,” writer Matthew Yglesias wrote. “Presentations are great but prose has a unique value in clarifying thought and creating an unambiguous record.” In response, Bezos wrote: “Slide decks hide can shallow thinking. A squad that’s armed to the teeth takes the Thanh Tri Gymnasium floor at 4 p.m. (5 p.m. in Manila) against an enemy that coach Chot Reyes sees has improved leaps and bounds and definitely cannot be taken lightly. “The kind of opposition that we have is serious,” said Reyes, who has coached a lot of Gilas squads but has never won a SEA Games gold medal. “They are a serious threat. We saw what happened in the 3X3. Those guys are the guys. We know their level [of play] and that’s why it’s very important that we are able to beat that challenge.” No country other than Malaysia has beaten the Philippines in the biennial meet, and like the others, Thailand has never come close to doing so.
