The Congress has appointed Lt General (retired) DS Hooda, who oversaw the surgical strike in September 2016, to head a task force on national security.Congress President Rahul Gandhi met Lt Gen Hooda on February 21 in order to discuss the functioning of the task force. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that during the engagement on February 27 with Pakistani aircraft, India lost one MiG 21 and an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot is held captive by the neighbouring country.Earlier, video footage of the pilot being “rescued” by the Pakistani army were doing the rounds on social media. On March 5, Pakistan announced that its interior ministry has placed 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) in the list of banned organisations.According to Pakistan's National Counter Terrorism Authority (NCTA) list, which was updated on March 5, JuD and FIF were among 70 organisations proscribed by the Ministry of Interior under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.Before this, the two organisations were reportedly in their ‘under watch’ list since 2017.
