Award season has been busy for St. John Bosco quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, this year’s Press-Telegram Dream Team Football Player of the Year. The junior led the Braves to a 13-1 record by completing 69.6 percent of his passes for 3,366 yards, 48 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He ran for an additional 312 yards and six touchdowns as he helped Bosco win the Trinity League title and make it to the CIF-Southern Section championship game. MANILA, Philippines -- University of the Philippines (UP) continues to show its readiness for the UAAP wars by turning back University of Santo Tomas (UST) in four sets in the gold medal game of the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Collegiate Grand Slam on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan. The Lady Maroons recovered from a sluggish second set to defeat the Golden Tigresses, 25-21, 16-25, 25-23, 25-19, to rule the inaugural edition of the collegiate tournament. This is UP's second championship of the preseason, having also won the championship in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Collegiate Conference back in September. Thirteen Braves signed their letters of intent to play at their future universities, taking advantage of the early signing period to lock in their scholarships. It’s a long list, one that will plant little Bosco flags across the country: Receiver Jake Bailey at Rice, receiver Colby Bowman at Stanford, linebacker Ralen Goforth at USC, running back George Holani at Boise State, linebacker Spencer Lytle at Wisconsin, cornerback Trent McDuffie at Washington, defensive lineman Sua’ava Poti at Oregon, defensive lineman Na’im Rodman at Colorado, offensive lineman Marist Talvou at Utah, safety Titus Toler at Wisconsin and tight end Jude Wolfe at USC. Donald Trump’s big, beautiful wall on the U.S.-Mexico border is at risk of crumbling before it’s even built. For over three years, Trump has promised to construct a massive wall spanning thousands of miles of the southern border, and he’s insisted that the government of Mexico would pay for it. That promise was at the heart of his victorious 2016 campaign, but in the past two years, the Trump administration has failed to secure funding from Mexico — and also Congress — to pay for the border wall. Now, Democrats are weeks away from taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives, and the new majority will almost certainly not approve any wall funding.
