A total of 44 members of the Thai National Legislative Assembly have signed in support of a draft bill to decriminalise marijuana for medical purpose by deleting cannabis from the Category 5 list of narcotic drugs, said Mr Somchai Sawaengkarn, secretary of the NLA’s extraordinary committee on parliamentary affairs. He says the decision to push for a separate bill to decriminalise marijuana for medical purpose followed an opinion poll conducted by the committee through the NLA’s website which showed that 99.13 percent of 16,431 respondents supported the idea. The poll showed that 68% of voters likely to cast a ballot in a 2024 Republican presidential primary or caucus support ending the federal prohibition of cannabis. The Coalition for Access to Regulated & Safe Cannabis (CARSC), which includes New York's medical cannabis operators Acreage Holdings, PharmaCann, Green Thumb Industries, and Curaleaf, as well as two hopeful dispensary owners, as first reported by Syracuse.com, sued New York's Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) and the Cannabis Control Board (CCB), the two agencies responsible for the implementation of the cannabis legislation.
