Key Facts Casino di Villa Boncompagni Ludovisi–better known as Villa Aurora –did not receive any bids Thursday at an auction held on the Italian courts’ online platform for selling impounded and disputed property. June 30, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

From keynote presentations at the cybersecurity industry’s biggest events to everyday news headlines, everyone appears to be talking about Zero Trust. The Biden administration has now even mandated it for government agencies. Countless security vendors put it in their marketing materials, but what is it, how did we get to this point, and how do organizations and now federal agencies put it into practice? advertisement advertisement Fundamentally, Zero Trust is a strategic approach to cybersecurity that secures an organization by eliminating implicit trust and continuously validating every stage of a digital interaction. We find implicit trust in many places within the IT infrastructure, such as trusting users sitting at headquarters differently than those working remotely from their home. Imagine if airports only checked your identity when you passed through the initial security checkpoint. Theoretically, once you’re in the concourse, you’d be free … [Read more...] about A cybersecurity expert explains why it’s time to get serious about Zero Trust

These Are the 8 Best Books of All Time, According to Bill Gates

May 26, 2022 by www.inc.com

When asked what advice he had for young people who want to make a positive impact on this world as part of a recent Reddit AMA (ask me anything) recently, Bill Gates's first suggestion was, "Read a lot." He's certainly taken his own advice. The billionaire entrepreneur-turned-philanthropist and super reader is constantly doling out book recommendations on his blog. Out of the dozens and dozens of titles he's mentioned over the years, which are his absolute favorites? In the course of the AMA Gates answers that too, naming eight diverse titles that he considers among his top books of all time. 1. Grand Transitions by Vaclav Smil When Gates reviewed this book back in 2019, he called it "masterpiece" from "one of my favorite thinkers." While he cautioned the book is "not for everyone" and that "long sections read like a textbook or engineering manual," he also insisted that Smil's examination of the growth of just about everything , from dinosaurs to … [Read more...] about These Are the 8 Best Books of All Time, According to Bill Gates

May 29, 2019 by edition.cnn.com

London (CNN) The leading candidate to succeed Theresa May as British Prime Minister has been ordered to appear in court to face allegations he lied to the public during the 2016 Brexit referendum campaign. A judge at Westminster Magistrate's Court in London ruled that Boris Johnson, a former UK foreign secretary, must face a private summons on three counts of misconduct in public office. Johnson, who was the high-profile face of the Leave campaign, is accused of falsely claiming that Britain's membership of the European Union cost £350 million ($442 million) a week. Texas Two-Step Bankruptcy

May 31, 2022 by www.investopedia.com

What Is a Texas Two-Step Bankruptcy? A Texas Two-Step bankruptcy is a controversial legal maneuver that a company can use to manage its exposure to potential legal claims. In carrying out a Texas Two-Step bankruptcy , a company first creates a new legal entity into which it transfers its tort liabilities while transferring a relatively small portion of the original company’s assets. The newly created corporation then files for bankruptcy, effectively shielding the original company from the tort liability costs. The Texas Two-Step bankruptcy is controversial, with critics arguing that it allows companies to hide from their legal responsibilities. The method has drawn criticism from parts of the legal community and the public at large, as well as from Congress. Therefore, it is possible that future laws or legal decisions may undermine the viability of the Texas Two-Step bankruptcy strategy. Key Takeaways A Texas Two-Step bankruptcy is a legal defense companies pursue … [Read more...] about Texas Two-Step Bankruptcy

June 30, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A BENGALURU (June 30): European shares on Thursday looked set for their worst quarter since the pandemic-led carnage in early 2020, as investors became increasingly wary of a global recession in the wake of hawkish central bank actions to tame rapid inflation. The continent-wide STOXX 600 index dropped 1.3%, setting it up for quarterly losses of more than 10%. France's CAC 40 index slid 1.8% as preliminary official figures showed inflation climbed further from the previous month to a record 6.5%. "What we're seeing at the moment is more evidence that inflation is serious, entrenched and investors are having to now reappraise the valuations they are putting on equities," said Azad Zangana, senior European economist and strategist at Schroders. "Now for a little while, the attitude in Europe was well a lot of the inflation is external. That's changing now and over the next few months, the European Central Bank will have to step up its efforts to curb … [Read more...] about European shares face worst quarter since pandemic-led carnage in early 2020
