Conor McGregor is now a spokesman for Burger King, and his first commercial is hilarious. The Irish-born fighter is promoting the restaurant’s new spicy chicken sandwich. Who better to promote a spicy chicken sandwich than one of the most braggadocios fighters on the planet? Nobody is more qualified. Seems more likely to me that somebody just told him to pretend the sandwich was Floyd Mayweather, and then they let the camera roll. I love him shouting out all the haters at the very end of the video. Classic move from the UFC superstar. McGregor has become such a huge brand, it’s incredible. He was a nobody only a few years ago, and now he’s one of the most famous athletes on the planet. That’s what happens when you make a name for … [Read more...] about Conor McGregor’s Burger King Commercial Is Laugh-Out-Loud Funny

Pink Floyd Graphic Designer On ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ Cover Turning 50
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Not only is Pink Floyd's 1973 progressive rock album, The Dark Side of the Moon , iconic, but so is its simple yet striking cover art: a triangular prism set against a black background with a ray of light refracting through it. Though the band's name and the record's title do not appear on the front cover, the design is universally recognizable and synonymous with Pink Floyd—so much so that it has since appeared on apparel, posters, mugs, magnets, beach towels, patches, buttons, a British postage stamp , and even the sides of vehicles . In essence, The Dark Side of the Moon design has become the band's unofficial visual trademark. The distinctive cover art was conceived by the British graphic design company Hipgnosis , founded in the late 1960s by Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell, which has long worked on Pink Floyd albums. In the five decades since the release of The Dark Side of the Moon ( which is marking … [Read more...] about Pink Floyd Graphic Designer On ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ Cover Turning 50

7 Ways To Encourage Workplace Anti-Racism, Nearly Three Years Since America’s Racial Reckoning
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After George Floyd’s May 2020 murder triggered a long overdue racial reckoning grounded in Black Lives Matter advocacy, anti-racism became a trendy workplace buzzword. Companies kicked into PR overdrive, racing to release pledges to become anti-racist insisting that non racist was not good enough. Instead, they committed to building truly anti-racist organizations willing to face hard truths , encourage difficult conversations and move toward a new level of inclusion and equity for Black professionals in particular. Fast forward almost three years and the persistent racial disparities suggest that what seemed like performative PR at the time may have actually been….performative PR. Arguably, Black professionals are the least surprised as they’ve grown quite accustomed to the predictable cycle of tragic, high publicity racial event followed by lofty executive racial justice word salad followed by performative, vague, … [Read more...] about 7 Ways To Encourage Workplace Anti-Racism, Nearly Three Years Since America’s Racial Reckoning

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed cloture Monday on the Republican police reform legislation, setting an official date for the vote. McConnell said the Senate will vote on the GOP’s police reform bill , which will need 60 votes in order to pass. Republicans would need seven or more Democrats to vote with them in order for the legislation to advance. Senate Republicans released their police reform legislation Wednesday in response to the killing of George Floyd and the ongoing protests. “The only group left in Washington D.C. that are reportedly agonizing over whether to block a discussion of police reform or let it proceed seem to be our Senate Democratic colleagues,” McConnell said on the Senate floor Monday. “I hope that whatever strange political calculations are making this difficult for our friends across the aisle will yield to common sense and to the American people’s hunger for progress. We will find out when we vote later this week.” Republican South … [Read more...] about McConnell Sets Date For Vote On GOP Police Reform Bill
Legal Expert Says Trump’s Police Reform EO Takes ‘Positive Steps In The Right Direction’
John Malcolm, Vice President of the Institute for Constitutional Government and Director of the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation, spoke with the Daily Caller’s Samantha Renck about President Donald Trump’s recent executive order, police reform and more. President Trump signed an executive order Tuesday titled “Safe Policing for Safe Communities” in response to a new wave of protests following the death of George Floyd in May. “I think developing best practices and credentialing is not a bad idea,” Malcolm said in response to one of the components in the president’s executive order. “It’s going to look at things like [the] use of force policies, de-escalation techniques, training, early warning systems for police officers who may be distressed.” The executive order also includes information sharing and incentivizes co-responder programs. “[President Trump] has asked the Attorney General to develop a system that is going to track … [Read more...] about Legal Expert Says Trump’s Police Reform EO Takes ‘Positive Steps In The Right Direction’
