Greta Thunberg was just named ‘Time’ magazine’s 2019 ‘Person of the Year’
Climate change activist Greta Thunberg has been named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2019. The now-16-year-old Thunberg rose to prominence in August of 2018 when she began protesting outside the Swedish Parliament with a sign reading “School Strike for Climate.” Since then, her action has spurred tens of thousands of teens and young adults to strike for climate change around the world. But she has succeeded in creating a global attitudinal shift, transforming millions of vague, middle-of-the-night anxieties into a worldwide movement calling for urgent change. She has offered a moral clarion call to those who are willing to act, and hurled shame on those who are not. She has persuaded … [Read more...] about Greta Thunberg was just named ‘Time’ magazine’s 2019 ‘Person of the Year’

Using AI To Read A Crowd Connecting with an audience has always been something of an art … [Read more...] about Why Google, Ideo, And IBM Are Betting On AI To Make Us Better Storytellers

I tried to understand location tracking. It’s nearly impossible
Earlier this month, Foursquare launched a special feature for users in Austin, Texas, called Hypertrending. The idea was to show off the company’s location tracking technology to attendees of the South by Southwest conference by creating a heat map of the city. The Hypertrending map ranked all of the public places in Austin based on how many people were in each location; during the conference, the Austin Convention Center was ranked first, with the local airport and the University of Texas second and third.
