Billy Crawford credits wife Coleen Garcia for supporting him with his weight loss. Image: Instagram/@billycrawford Billy Crawford has spoken about what motivated him to kick his alcohol habit and how he shed nearly 80 pounds to get to his ideal weight. The singer, dancer and TV host was on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” in an episode aired yesterday, Nov. 6 and addressed concerns about his slim physique. He admitted that prior to being together with wife Coleen Garcia, he would spend nights alone after work watching TV and downing a bottle of whiskey. This habit affected his work and his weight. He said that a year and a half ago, he was 235 pounds, and now he is at his ideal weight of 156 pounds. Considering the effort he has put into weight loss, he noted that it gets “annoying” when people ask if he is sick. Of his heavier days, he said, “On TV, it’s not a joke. So I had to take something seriously. I had to take my job seriously, my health seriously. I tried to lose … [Read more...] about Billy Crawford opens up on dieting, letting go of alcohol to lose weight

Hanwha Eagles’ losing streak enters double digits for third year in a row
The Hanwha Eagles leave the field after losing to the LG Twins at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in southern Seoul on Tuesday. [NEWS1] The Hanwha Eagles' years-long slump passed another grim milestone on Wednesday when the Daejeon club became the first team in KBO history to play three consecutive seasons with a double-digit losing streak. The last-place Eagles on Wednesday lost a tight 6-5 game to the third-place LG Twins at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in southern Seoul, pushing their current losing streak to 10 games. The Eagles lost 10-4 to the Twins on Tuesday and had dropped their most recent series against the NC Dinos, Lotte Giants and SSG Landers. Mixed into that losing streak was one tie on June 17, but unlike in football, a tie in baseball does not cut a winning or losing streak. The last time the Eagles actually won a game, as of press time Wednesday, was on June 8, when they beat the Doosan Bears 5-1 at Jamsil. That 10-game losing streak matches the Eagles' worst spell of … [Read more...] about Hanwha Eagles’ losing streak enters double digits for third year in a row
‘Stranger Things’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This post was republished on 6/25. Well, it finally happened, and it took another juggernaut to knock Stranger Things season 4 off the #1 spot on Netflix’s top 10 list after nearly a month planted there. That would be season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, Netflix’s hyper-successful non-Marvel or DC superhero series about an odd band of brothers and sister dealing with time travel paradoxes upon their return. Stranger Things season 4 almost lasted in the #1 spot until July 1, which is when part 2 of the season airs with the final two episodes, which will no doubt propel it to #1 yet again for a period of time. Right now, the show is slowly inching toward Squid Game’s viewership record, but it will need those final two episodes to perform even better than the previous seven if it hopes to catch it. Regardless, Stranger Things season 4 has set all manner of English-language records for the service, and even if … [Read more...] about ‘Stranger Things’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show
Living On Bitcoin For A Week: Bitcoiners Are The New Vegans
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Day 4. Bitcoin's value hit its low point on Friday On Friday, I skip breakfast again; it’s an unavoidable part of the Bitcoin diet as there are no places that serve food before 10 a.m. accepting my currency. I lose my appetite anyway when I check the value of Bitcoin; it has plummeted to $90 over night. It has been on a steady decline since I started my Bitcoin challenge. Is it me? My editor suggests the value is falling because I’m showing “ what a drag ” it is to use it. But I think it's due instead to a huge Bitcoin lawsuit that became public Thursday night. The virtual money has sparked a $75 million (real world currency) complaint; Seattle start-up Coinlab is suing Mt. Gox, saying the Japanese Bitcoin exchange has failed to follow through on the partnership they inked, refusing to let Coinlab take over management of Mt. Gox’s American and Canadian accounts as it allegedly agreed to do. Wrote Adrian … [Read more...] about Living On Bitcoin For A Week: Bitcoiners Are The New Vegans
Living On Bitcoin For A Week: Bitcoin Is The Internet Applied To Money (And I Survived It)
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Day 7. Monday is the last day of Bitcoin living and it’s off to an exhausting start. My first night in the Bitcoin-paid hostel was not especially restful due to noise filtering in from Mission Street and my body’s usual skepticism about an unfamiliar bed. I have plans to meet with security researcher Dan Kaminsky in the Mission in the afternoon so it would be silly to head to the office. I’d love to go to a cafe to work but none in the area take Bitcoin. I don’t think I can take Bitcoin seriously as a currency until tech-forward San Francisco has at least one BTC-friendly coffee shop. 20 Mission has Wi-Fi. I place a Skype call to Pyry Lehdonvirta who is in Helsinki. He is the 29-year-old CEO of SC5, a Finnish HTML5 software developer that started paying 20 of its full-time employees partially in Bitcoin last October when Bitcoin was valued at $40 USD. “The increase in [BTC’s] value has been bad for us,” says Lehdonvirta. … [Read more...] about Living On Bitcoin For A Week: Bitcoin Is The Internet Applied To Money (And I Survived It)
Jet Airways likely to sign deal for new planes in next couple of weeks: Sources
Representative image. Jet Airways is in the process of finalising a new deal for its fleet and is expected to sign the deal in the next couple of weeks, multiple sources aware of the matter told Moneycontrol . “The timeline for delivery of planes is being finalised as the airline is very keen to start increasing its operations once it takes flight. Once the timelines are finalised, the deal will be signed and announced,” a senior company official said. He added that at the moment Jet Airways has not made a final decision on the type of aircraft it wants to procure and the contract is mostly going to depend on the manufacturer’s ability to deliver planes in a timely manner. “Jet Airways wants to start taking delivery of new planes by the end of 2023 or even before that and will look to take delivery of around 20 planes every year for the next four years,” an industry insider aware of the discussions said. On June 27, Bloomberg reported that the once-defunct Indian … [Read more...] about Jet Airways likely to sign deal for new planes in next couple of weeks: Sources
UK to provide another 1 billion pounds of military support to Ukraine
Representative image Britain will provide another 1 billion pounds ($1.2 billion) of military support to Ukraine, the British government said on Wednesday, as NATO branded Russia the biggest "direct threat" to Western security. The funding will go towards boosting Ukraine's defence capabilities, including air defence systems, uncrewed aerial vehicles, new electronic warfare equipment and thousands of pieces of equipment for Ukrainian soldiers. "UK weapons, equipment and training are transforming Ukraine's defences against this onslaught. And we will continue to stand squarely behind the Ukrainian people to ensure Putin fails in Ukraine," Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement. The latest funding comes after Britain said in May it would provide an additional 1.3 billion pounds in military support and aid to Ukraine, and takes the UK's total military and economic support to 3.8 billion pounds this year. Ukrainian troops have also started training in Britain after … [Read more...] about UK to provide another 1 billion pounds of military support to Ukraine
UK sets out planned change to law to minimise impact of strikes
LONDON (Reuters) - The British government set out planned changes to law on Thursday that would make it easier for businesses to use temporary staff to minimise the impact of strike action. Britain's rail network was brought close to a standstill on Tuesday as 40,000 workers walked out in a dispute over pay and trade unions have warned the country faces a summer of disruption as workers struggling with the mounting cost of living threaten industrial action. Rail workers are set to walk out again on Thursday after talks aimed at resolving the dispute broke down without an agreement on Wednesday. A third day of action is planned for Saturday. The government said it would remove restrictions on supplying skilled temporary agency workers to cover essential roles for the duration of a strike. "Once again trade unions are holding the country to ransom by grinding crucial public services and businesses to a halt. The situation we are in is not sustainable," Business Secretary … [Read more...] about UK sets out planned change to law to minimise impact of strikes
Phillies Lose Two-Time MVP Bryce Harper With Fractured Thumb
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The flickering flame of Philadelphia’s playoff hopes may have gone out over the weekend. That’s because Bryce Harper, a two-time National League Most Valuable Player, suffered a thumb fracture when hit by a pitch from Blake Snell of the San Diego Padres. If surgery is needed, the high-priced slugger could be lost for the season – along with the team’s title chances. The Phillies, who have not reached postseason play since 2011, are running third in the National League East, a division dominated this season by the New York Mets. Even a 14-game winning streak by the second-place Atlanta Braves hasn’t been able to decapitate New York. After Philadelphia’s 4-2 win at San Diego Saturday night, the team had a 38-35 record, nine games behind the Mets and four behind the Braves. Harper, a 29-year-old left-handed hitter, had already been reduced from regular right-fielder to designated hitter because he suffered a … [Read more...] about Phillies Lose Two-Time MVP Bryce Harper With Fractured Thumb
Dish’s new pick-your-own TV channels plan starts at $30
You sign up for a TV deal. Your bill skyrockets after the deal ends. You call and complain. Cable and satellite TV customers know the drill. Playing that game is the second biggest complaint Dish Network gets from customers. The first? Paying for too many channels they don’t watch. “I think we reached a tipping point,” said Warren Schlichting, Dish’s executive vice president of marketing, programming and media sales. “The consumer’s appetite has changed for having hundreds of channels. If you take a step back, you’ll see programmers and distributors (like Dish) have incentive to grow the pay TV industry. And we better find a way to meet consumer demand or people are going to watch Netflix all day.” On Thursday, the Douglas County satellite TV provider, reeling from its largest loss of quarterly subscribers ever, introduced a novel approach to address both issues. The Flex Plan offers 50 popular channels — including Food Network, CNN and USA — but no local networks for … [Read more...] about Dish’s new pick-your-own TV channels plan starts at $30
