Short-Term And Long-Term Picture Of Talent Shortage

March 8, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Fiscal policy and spending, inflationary pressures, combined with the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic recession, resulted in our current overheating economy that demands a larger workforce. Combine that demand with the multi-year global talent shortage plus the social dynamics of the “Great Resignation” and early retirements post-COVID. This adds up to far more than a short-term staffing and attrition dilemma. At Everest Group, we have studied this situation and what it means for short-term and long-term business concerns. Read on to discover the reality of what’s ahead. Short-Term Situation Some companies have a thesis that the monetary policy will tighten, the inflation will slow, the work environment (whether from home, in the office, or a hybrid model) will work itself out, and the talent markets will resume their historical capacity. They hope the current challenging situation passes quickly. Under this … [Read more...] about Short-Term And Long-Term Picture Of Talent Shortage

Daily Voice | India will be among best markets globally, if inflation cools off: Rajesh Bhatia of ITI Long-Short Equity Fund

March 18, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

"It is difficult to call the trajectory of inflation, especially since the outlook is clouded by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the spike in COVID cases in China. So we expect volatility in equity markets to continue in the short term as it navigates this inflation direction," says Rajesh Bhatia, Managing Director & CIO, ITI Long-Short Equity Fund, in an interview to Moneycontrol . If the inflation trajectory does cool off, India will be among the best markets in the world to invest in, he believes. Therefore, "earnings growth in double digits will lead to double-digit gains in stocks as well," says Bhatia, who has more than 30 years of investment experience in Indian equities, with the last 14 years in alternative investments (long-short fund management). Considering the current volatility, what could be the drivers for the market, and where could the market be headed in the near term, though most experts are still holding a positive outlook for the medium- … [Read more...] about Daily Voice | India will be among best markets globally, if inflation cools off: Rajesh Bhatia of ITI Long-Short Equity Fund

Market is in a short to medium term downtrend: Alchemy’s Hiren Ved

May 19, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

The market is in a short to medium term downtrend, Alchemy Capital Management CEO Hiren Ved told CNBC-TV18. “We will probably continue to see some earnings and margin pressure going into the first quarter. Most of that should get priced in because, with these results coming in, unless inflation goes completely out of hand, most of the stuff should get priced in,” Ved said. Because of the headlines and the headwinds, the sentiment is really varied. “My view is that we don’t have a very significant downside from these levels.” Mighty IT Ved said the structural story is intact and there isn’t going to be any significant slowdown, despite valuations being on the higher side. Close “Hoping that these businesses can deliver 15 to 20 compounded earnings growth over the next couple of years is pretty much possible. In an environment where inflation is a challenge, this sector, at least from a demand and margin perspective, should be reasonably okay. Most of these … [Read more...] about Market is in a short to medium term downtrend: Alchemy’s Hiren Ved

Unity Stock: Priced Too Low For The Long-Term Opportunity

May 20, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Unity has demonstrated strong price action following the IPO last year due to its unique blend of cash efficient ad-tech monetization and near-monopolistic game development platform. The company is well suited for the Metaverse and industrial 3D worlds due to its history of supporting 3D game development. In previous earnings calls, the management was confident they would not be affected by Apple’s IDFA changes or the other road blocks that caused ad-tech companies to lower guidance across the board. Unity’s confidence primarily came from their contextual ad positioning as compared to direct response. Therefore, there was high confidence going into earnings yet management delivered a sizable revenue miss due to a product mishap. Unity previously guided for revenue growth of 36% for full year 2022, which would put the company as the leader in ad-tech growth and mid-range for cloud. In the recent call, the company … [Read more...] about Unity Stock: Priced Too Low For The Long-Term Opportunity

In the last eight sessions, the index has fallen more than a thousand points from the high of 18,115 on April 4. The short-term trend has turned bearish as the Nifty closed below its 20-day and 50-day exponential moving average (EMA). In the week ended April 8, the Nifty formed “Doji” candlestick on the weekly chart. The significance of trend reversal has been high as a bearish candle was formed exactly at the downward sloping trend line, adjoining major swing highs on the Nifty weekly charts. Daily Voice | Recovery unlikely to be swift, prepare for more volatility in near term, says Nikhil Chandak of JM Financial

March 14, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Nikhil Chandak, MD & Head Investments, JM Financial, thinks it is better to have a Test mindset than a T20 one in these volatile times. If one can take a medium-term view, a crisis is the best time to buy “resilient bluechips”, he says. A chartered accountant by training, Chandak has more than 21 years of experience across companies like Arthur Andersen, E&Y, Kotak, Landmark Group Family Office (Dubai) and JM Financial. Chandak tells Moneycontrol in an interview that he expects the market to remain volatile in the very near term, with pricey commodities, inflation and rising interest rates weighing on sentiment in a risk-off environment. Edited excerpts: Do you expect a quick recovery once Russia-Ukraine hostilities ease? The key issue for the global economy currently is the significant spike in commodity prices across the board, leading to higher inflation and resultantly, higher interest rates. Close Russia is a significant global player in … [Read more...] about Daily Voice | Recovery unlikely to be swift, prepare for more volatility in near term, says Nikhil Chandak of JM Financial

Waymo Prepares To Bring Robotaxi Service To Phoenix Airport And More

May 19, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Waymo (fomerly Google GOOG car) CEO Dmitri Dolgov announced today a further expansion of their efforts in Phoenix , on top of the expansions recounted last week. Waymo will begin testing at Phoenix Airport and also move soon to operation with no safety driver (as Waymo calls it, “rider only”) in downtown Phoenix. They already operate this way in suburban Chandler Arizona and San Francisco. The testing at the airport evokes the most interest. While this testing will be with safety drivers, and only used by Alphabet staff, airports present a first attack at the hard problem of “pick up and drop off ” or PuDo. Previously, it was noted that Cruise decided to deploy in San Francisco without attempting to solve that problem, raising the ire of the local Muni transportation agency. Robotaxi service, or any unmanned car service, has to include the cars being able to pull off the road to good locations for PuDo. That … [Read more...] about Waymo Prepares To Bring Robotaxi Service To Phoenix Airport And More

Garmin Fenix 7 Vs Epix 2 Comparison: Which Is Better?

February 27, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It is never that easy to pick a Garmin watch. Fenix or Forerunner? Instinct or Venu? The Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 are the latest pairing out to cause a headache or two. This is the typical Garmin conundrum: while some exterior differences may be apparent, you often have to dig very deep to discover which advanced features these bands do and do not have. And on the surface it can seem all of them everything, because — from a fitness tracking perspective — they do, at least compared to the bands from other brands. The Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix 2 are a little different. They have, as far as I can tell from a couple of months of testing, near-identical feature sets. You can use them to download continents’ worth of maps, they offer advanced and unusual features like smart turbo trainer control and all the in-depth training load and VO2 Max stats you can consume. Here are the my key takeaways from two months of using … [Read more...] about Garmin Fenix 7 Vs Epix 2 Comparison: Which Is Better?

May 17, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Trade Watchlist Portfolio Message Set Alert live bse live nse live Volume Todays L/H More × Nandish Shah, Senior Derivative & Technical Analyst at HDFC Securities The Nifty broke the six-day losing streak on Monday, when it rose 60 points to close at 15,842 levels. After a lower opening, the benchmark index recovered during the day led by banking and realty stocks. The Nifty made triple bottom around 15,735 levels and formed higher low as compared to 15,671 low made in March 2022. It formed Doji candlestick pattern on Monday which indicates indecisiveness. If the Nifty closes above Doji candle stick pattern's high of 15,978, the level which coincides with the 5 days EMA (exponential moving average) also, it would be considered as a bullish short term trend reversal. MC Interview | Employee loyalty doesn’t exist, the contract between a company and employee is now very short: Shiv Shivakumar

May 18, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

The lifespan of companies is shrinking – to 18 years now from 90 years in 1935, says Shiv Shivakumar, group executive president, corporate strategy, at the Aditya Birla Group. In an interview with Moneycontrol , he said in the future, some legacy companies and those that have been around for 10-15 years will likely be bought over or close down. Shivakumar, who recently wrote a book on career and management titled The Art of Management, said employee loyalty no longer exists and the contract between a company and an employee is now very short. The only thing that’s permanent is learning and the ability to look ahead. Managers must communicate at all times, advises Shivakumar, who was formerly chairperson of PepsiCo Holdings in India and CEO of emerging markets at Nokia. The young workforce will not respect age – they will respect relevance and impact, he said in the emailed interview. Edited excerpts: You’ve said in your new book that careers have changed … [Read more...] about MC Interview | Employee loyalty doesn’t exist, the contract between a company and employee is now very short: Shiv Shivakumar
