Infra investments to boost long-term PH growth – AIIBPhilippine economic growth is expected to receive a long-term boost via the Duterte administration’s “Build Build Build” initiative, a senior Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) official said on Tuesday. “That’s clearly a very large scale and ambitious infrastructure program in the Philippines. If you think about the key drivers of growth, like trade, economic integration and the importance of becoming more sustainable in terms of climate change, all of those are driven by infrastructure investment,” AIIB Vice President Daniel Alexander told The Manila Times in an interview. “Actually what the Philippines is doing is very much in line with what we are looking at, you need to look longer term to support long term growth,” he added. FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co [GEELY.UL] remains committed to being a long-term partner for Daimler, vice president Frank Li said, as talks about cooperation possibilities between the groups continue. Li, in comments made to Reuters on the sidelines of a panel discussion in Frankfurt, declined to comment on when talks would be concluded but reiterated that Geely was seeking to remain a supportive long-term strategic partner. Forsa chief executive Manfred Güllner has expressed his doubts that the SPD can restore its former glory, and has said that the party of Willy Brandt and Helmut Schmidt could be overtaken long term by the Greens. “The size relationship between the SPD and the Greens could switch at a national level,” Güllner told the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung on Tuesday, saying that the SPD, traditionally one of Germany’s two major parties, is suffering from a lack of credible candidates. “Potential SPD voters are discouraged to vote for the party in its current incarnation,” said Güllner. “Before, centrist voters would have voted for (former SPD Chancellors) Helmut Schmidt or Gerhard Schröder, but now there is nobody in the SPD who can attract these voters.
