Coach Ghicka Bernabe ‘confused’ over judging system as NU Pep Squad gets bronze

May 22, 2022 by sports.inquirer.net

NU Pep Squad during the UAAP Season 84 Cheerdance Competition. UAAP PHOTO MANILA, Philippines — National University PEP squad coach Ghicka Bernabe stressed she is not questioning their third place finish that ended its two-season reign, but she couldn’t stop wondering about the change in the judging system of the 2022 UAAP Cheerdance Competition. Long regarded as the standard of the midseason extravaganza after winning six of the last seven seasons with its fast-paced stunts, the NU PEP Squad failed to complete its “three-peat” and settled for bronze on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena. But for the multi-titled coach, her team did well. “I think my team did really well. If there’s a wobble in the segment of our stunts, I don’t think it will affect the routine entirely. I’m just being honest. Being in this industry for how many years, I don’t want to question the results but I believe my team did well,” Bernabe lamented. The NU PEP Squad scored 681 points with six-point penalty … [Read more...] about Coach Ghicka Bernabe ‘confused’ over judging system as NU Pep Squad gets bronze

From left: Rey Valera, Nonoy Zuniga, Pops Fernandez, Marco Sison and Hajji Alejandro This year’s presidential elections was one of the most “intense” in recent memory, Marco Sison said. But after all the “divisiveness” it caused among people, now there needs to be a “healing process.” “This is the first time I have experienced an intense election. There was divisiveness, it’s true. We have our own beliefs and our own principles. As a person, an artist and a citizen of this country, I supported someone based on my own principles. But after the election, there should be a healing process,” he said at a press conference for the eight-city US concert tour “Four Kings and a Queen.” Mounted by Amore Entertainment, the series of shows—which kicks off on June 25 in California and ends on July 17 in Hawaii—features fellow “Hitmakers” Hajji Hajji Alejandro, Nonoy Zuñiga and Rey Valera, as well as special guest Pops Fernandez. “Let’s give each other a chance to heal and recover,” Marco … [Read more...] about ‘Four Kings and a Queen’ veteran singers weigh in on ‘divisive’ 2022 polls

May 23, 2022 by entertainment.inquirer.net

KUALA LUMPUR: AEON Co. (M) Bhd recorded a net profit of RM28.07mil in the first quarter ended March 31, 2022, a 27.38% improvement over RM22.03mil in the previous corresponding quarter on improved retail margin and higher impairment of trade receivables in the comparative quarter. By segment, the group said its retail business contributed a 2.5% year-on-year (y-o-y) lower revenue of RM857.4mil due to more consumers spending more time outdoors and dining out instead of cooking at home, although this was cushioned by an improvement in softline. The property management services segment posted a 7.4% y-o-y higher revenue of RM144.4mil on higher sales commission and temporary space rental in line with consumers returning to physical malls.
