After opening to a limited subset of community-based lenders earlier this week, the second round of the federal Paycheck Protection Program will begin accepting applications from eligible lenders with $1 billion or less in assets on Friday, January 15, the Small Business Administration has announced. That would make the program’s loan portal open to about 5,000 more lenders, the SBA says, including “community banks, credit unions, and farm credit institutions.” … [Read more...] about Paycheck Protection Program loan portal opens to larger lenders soon: Here’s the latest

IRS stimulus check update: What to know about mailed payments and the Friday deadline
Direct deposit info: If you’re getting your check this way, the tool should display a date and a partial bank account where the funds were distributed. (Note that many payments that were distributed this way went to the wrong account due to distribution errors, and the IRS says it’s working to fix this, so you should keep checking your bank account if you don’t see it.) Mailed payments: If you’re getting your payment as a paper check or debit card, the tool should display the date it was mailed. The IRS says it could take three to four weeks to actually receive your check or card in the mail. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been very clear about who is getting which payment method. Some taxpayers who received their first payment via paper check could get a debit card this time, and vice versa. The dire consequences of Republicans ‘just asking questions’ about whatever doesn’t go their way
It’s already sad that many conservatives appear to be more upset about Donald Trump losing his most-cherished megaphone than they are about how he ultimately employed it. But it’s outright offensive to see the way in which they’re upset. These folks aren’t broadly picking apart the particulars of Twitter’s violent threat policy to argue Trump did not technically violate it. Rather, they’re pretending that Twitter just arbitrarily decided to ban Trump as part of a political witch hunt, and they are very mad about that fabricated reality. … [Read more...] about The dire consequences of Republicans ‘just asking questions’ about whatever doesn’t go their way
