Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When running footwear brand On started developing its first flagship retail location the question, according to cofounder David Allemann, was: “Can we truly reinvent something here?” On believed it did that with its CloudTec outsole on running shoes, so “it was important to create an experience that is a little big magic, contactless and immediately gives feedback on your running gait.” The On New York City flagship retail outlet opens December 16, putting technology at the forefront, while also pushing it behind the scenes. The first case-in-point comes from the site’s ability to monitor running gait and suggest running shoe styles without bulky and intrusive technology. By hiding cameras away from Swedish startup MotionMetrix and not requiring a treadmill, the On design invites customers to run for three seconds on the open floor, then within seconds get, according to On, a 99.5% accurate reading on the full shape of … [Read more...] about On Running Opens Technology-Driven Retail Flagship In New York City

New York City FC’s Home Comforts In The Bronx And Queens
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin New York City FC made a stuttering start to the 2023 Major League Soccer season, losing its opening game 2-0 to Nashville and drawing 1-1 with Chicago Fire. The MLS schedule handed head coach Nick Cushing and his team two away games to kick off the new season, travelling first to Tennessee and then to Illinois, returning to New York with just one point. The home opener against Inter Miami was more encouraging, and that’s perhaps no surprise given NYCFC regularly has one of the best home records in the league. Despite worries about the departure of many key players in the past year, including the spine of the team from goalkeeper Sean Johnson to goalscorer Taty Castellanos, there was something more familiar about the team’s play once it was back in the Bronx. NYCFC created a few chances against Inter Miami, with an expected goals score of 1.45 - 0.30 in its favor, indicating the 1-0 win was deserved. The low … [Read more...] about New York City FC’s Home Comforts In The Bronx And Queens

From The Motor City To New York City: Detroit’s Young Designers Shine At New York Fashion Week
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Detroit may be the birthplace of musical royalty, having produced legends like Diana Ross, Smoky Robinson, Big Sean, and others, but its greatness transcends music. One group of creatives climbing those same ranks are up-and-coming fashion designers who traveled to New York last month for New York Fashion Week. While the designers possess the same talent and ingenuity as veterans in the industry, they’re teenagers. As part of a collaboration between New York-based retailer Maison Black and Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan’s (BGCSM) Fashion Industry Club , the young men’s designs were displayed at the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) offices during the popular week. Detroit Native Tori Nichel, the founder and chief creative officer of Maison Black, hopes that this experience will continue to inspire them. “At sixteen, someone bet on me and really taught me the ins and outs of fashion design hands-on, and I … [Read more...] about From The Motor City To New York City: Detroit’s Young Designers Shine At New York Fashion Week

You’re not hallucinating. Ozempic is everywhere. The diabetes medication, which can also be used for long-term weight management, has become a near-overnight sensation, moving from hushed Hollywood diet aid to the mainstream. This week, the injectable medication made its way to New York City subways via an ad campaign from telehealth company Ro, which recently started offering Ozempic to its patients online. Ozempic and other medications of its type—called GLP-1 agonists or semaglutides—were approved by the FDA in 2020, intended for adults with type 2 diabetes. But they have become popular for their off-label use as appetite suppressants, with celebrities from Elon Musk to Kim Kardashian (reportedly) using them for rapid weight loss in a short time period. How ‘Mr. New York City’ Shut Down MSG In The Sweet 16
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin To have the Twitter handle @MrNewYorkCityy as a Harlem, New York native takes a certain level of confidence. Dropping a March Madness record 19 assists, 20 points, and 5 steals in an Overtime win in Madison Square Garden arguably takes that same level of self-belief. And the college basketball world was lucky enough to witness it. Kansas State senior guard Markquis Nowell did just that tonight, producing one of the best individual performances we’ve seen in tournament history to advance to the Elite Eight, topping Tom Izzo’s Michigan State unit 98-93 in OT. But even though your Twitter timeline will consist of the miscellaneous stats and stories regarding Powell and the unlikely first team to breach the Elite Eight, the story of how this team was constructed is impressive on its own. Flashing back to the 2021-22 season, Kansas State was a 14-17 overall team, with a 6-12 record in the Big 12. This was good … [Read more...] about How ‘Mr. New York City’ Shut Down MSG In The Sweet 16
