My Snapchat was number two in the country, not just for cannabis, but in general: It was Kylie Jenner, me and Cardi B. And then they deleted that also. But in terms of sheer numbers online, my watch time is roughly 70 million watch time minutes a month. So I get in a day what some of the biggest cannabis websites get in a month,” explains Thomas Araujo, better known as Dope As Yola, when asked what makes him (probably) the most popular cannabis content creator in the world. To understand how he got there, we need to go back a decade because, as they say, it takes 10 years to become an overnight celebrity. The Real Grinder Thomas “fell in love” with weed at a very young age, even though he recommends people wait until the legal age in their respective jurisdictions to commence their cannabis journey. How to Do What You Love for a Living
Regular readers of this column know that I almost never write about my personal life. I figure this column isn't about me; it's about making readers more successful. However, my editor asked me to write about what made me passionate about my job, so here goes. By high school, I was writing nonfiction at a college level (e.g., 35 pages of "Analysis of Marijuana Usage in Contemporary California") and writing almost readable pastiches of Kafka and Lovecraft. Whilst in college, I had my first short story … [Read more...] about How to Do What You Love for a Living

Markets in 1H: The almost perfect storm
- A + A LONDON (June 30): Investors knew that, after two years of COVID-19 chaos, 2022 would be a bumpy ride, but nobody expected this - the most turbulent first half global markets have ever seen. To grasp just how torrid things have been, consider two things. MSCI's 47-country world stocks index has suffered its biggest 1H drop since its creation in 1990. Add to that Russia being gouged out the … [Read more...] about Markets in 1H: The almost perfect storm
