Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A New Hampshire state lawmaker has introduced legislation that would legalize the possession and use by adults of psychedelics such as LSD and psilocybin, the primary psychoactive compound in magic mushrooms. The measure, HB328 , was introduced in the New Hampshire House of Representatives by Republican state Rep. Kevin Verville on January 5. Top 5 Legal Mistakes For Startups—and How To Avoid Them
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Most startups are built through trial and error. Founders build, test, then pivot. This process is essential to build breakthrough products. Below are the top five most common legal mistakes for startups and some tips on how to avoid them. Splitting the Equity Up Front A lot of founding teams avoid the hard conversation about individual contributions and commitments by splitting the equity evenly up front without a vesting schedule. This can lead to a number of problems and is how you get “Zombie Founders”—holders of significant equity in your startup that don’t contribute anything of value. To avoid this, have that hard conversation with your co-founders up front and make sure everyone is on the same page. Work out the levels of contribution and commitment each founder can provide, and make … [Read more...] about Top 5 Legal Mistakes For Startups—and How To Avoid Them
Man legally changes gender to female to get custody of daughters amid outrage
The man said he doesn’t identify as a woman and his legal gender change has nothing to do with his sexuality. (Representational) A man in Ecuador legally changed his gender from male to female in a bid to win custody rights of his two daughters drawing flak from transgender and LGBTQ activist groups. 47-year-old René Salinas Ramos told local media that although he doesn’t identify as a woman and the move has nothing to do with his sexuality, Ecuadorian laws prefer mothers over fathers when it comes to the custody of children. “The laws say that the one who has the right is the woman. As of this moment, I am female. Now I’m also a mom, that’s how I consider myself,” Ramos told local media after he legally changed his gender. “I am very sure of my sexuality. What I have sought is that I want to be a mother, so that I can also give the love and protection of a mother,” he added. Claiming that his daughters are living in an abusive environment with their mother, Ramos said … [Read more...] about Man legally changes gender to female to get custody of daughters amid outrage

Budget 2023: PAN card likely to get legal backing as single business ID
The Finance Act, 2023 may include an enabling provision or clause that will provide "legal underpinning" for PAN PAN Card in Budget 2023 : Union Budget 2023-24 will likely pave way for the legalisation of the permanent account number (PAN) as a single business identification, the Business Standard reported on January 12, citing a finance ministry official. The government is reportedly mulling rolling out the legal and operational framework for the adoption of the PAN number. This will apply to all businesses securing approvals, the report further adds. The new provision will help investors save a lot of effort as they will no longer have to fill in multiple identifications details - there are 20 different IDs including GSTIN, TIN, and EPFO - for accessing the National Single Window System (NSWS) for project-related clearances and approvals. (Photo by NIÑO JESUS ORBETA / Philippine Daily Inquirer) MANILA, Philippines — None of the more than 1,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who received legal aid from the government last year as they faced trial abroad were spared conviction and imprisonment, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported to the Senate on Tuesday. At a hearing by the Senate Committee on Migrant Workers, senators expressed disbelief that all 1,278 Filipino workers who were charged criminally in the first half of 2022 ended up convicted and serving prison terms. This showed the government’s “sloppy” defense and poor legal assistance in their behalf, Senate Majority Leader Joel … [Read more...] about DFA hit for ‘sloppy’ legal aid for jailed OFWs
Daily Caller Reporter Breaks Down Why Reparations Face Massive Legal Challenges
Daily Caller reporter Brianna Lyman appeared on Newsmax’s American Agenda on Tuesday and broke down why the left’s recent push for reparations will backfire legally. The city of San Francisco is reportedly considering a reparations plan which would award eligible black residents $5 million payments, according to a 2022 draft plan for the city. The proposal seeks to uphold the city’s “international reputation as a shining progressive gem.” “I think just like on a legal aspect here, you know, the courts have consistently ruled that entitlements like reparations are only permissible to remedy past discrimination if it’s the government that is causing those types of discrimination,” Lyman said. “For instance, there was a case, it was the City of Richmond vs. J. A. Croson and basically the city determined that because of local, state, and federal past discrimination, black-owned businesses were disproportionately affected.” (RELATED: Viral Video Of Climate Activist Greta Thunberg … [Read more...] about Daily Caller Reporter Breaks Down Why Reparations Face Massive Legal Challenges
