Registration For PPP Leadership Races Opens In South Korea
(CTN NEWS) – SEOUL – In the contest to lead the party through next year’s general elections, Reps. Kim Gi-hyeon and Ahn Cheol-soo are the two leading candidates. And candidate registration for the leadership election of the ruling PPP commenced on Thursday. The Yoon Suk Yeol administration keeps a tight eye on the race because it wants a Yoon supporter to steer the party through the parliamentary elections. That will determine if Yoon can advance his program in the National Assembly for the remaining five years of his tenure, until 2027. It is widely assumed that Yoon’s office is supporting Kim. Kim Gi-hyeon (R) and Ahn Cheol-soo, lawmakers of the ruling People Power Party who have expressed their intention to run in the party’s leadership race in March, attend a New Year’s meeting of the party’s chapter in Incheon, west of Seoul, on Jan. 11, 2023. (Yonhap) Kim previously held the lead in the race, but current surveys indicate that Ahn has … [Read more...] about Registration For PPP Leadership Races Opens In South Korea

How To Design The Long Life You Love
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There is a straightforward but impactful line in Ayse Birsel's book Design the Long Life You Love: A Step-by-Step Guide to Love, Purpose, Well-Being, and Friendship where she says, "Life itself is imagination." That line mirrors the hope and endless possibilities that the book and design thinking generally hold. Design thinking is the practice of applying the problem-solving techniques and creativity you would use to design a project. In her book, Ayse introduces her brilliant idea of "deconstruction reconstruction" by building on the foundation of design thinking. It is the practice of breaking something down into smaller parts so you can examine everything involved. Then, you can begin to look at how to reconstruct it so that there may be an improved outcome. In terms of applying this thinking to life, the goal is to reconstruct it in a way that gets you closer to the life you want to build. Upon my inquiry about … [Read more...] about How To Design The Long Life You Love

It’s A Gas: Hyundai Hopes To Regain Hydrogen Leadership With Futuristic New SUV
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Hyundai Motor reveals its new FE Fuel Cell Concept, indicating the design direction for the ... [+] automaker's new fuel cell car, due out next year. JUNG YEON-JE/AFP/Getty Images Hyundai Motor announced last week that it will try to reclaim its early leadership in hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles by releasing a new fuel-cell SUV next year with an industry-best range of 500 miles. Corporate cousin Kia will produce its own fuel-cell vehicle by 2020, the Korean automaker said. The new hydrogen car is part of Hyundai’s plans to put 14 more eco-friendly vehicles on the road by 2020. The question now is: Can any automaker get consumers to care about fuel-cell cars? Hyundai began its fuel-cell program in 1999 and stuck with it as other automakers waned or dropped out and was the first to start assembly-line production of a fuel-cell vehicle – the Tucson Fuel Cell – in 2013. But a lack of hydrogen fueling stations – … [Read more...] about It’s A Gas: Hyundai Hopes To Regain Hydrogen Leadership With Futuristic New SUV
Crying At Work No Longer Taboo Under Compassionate Leadership, According To Some Experts
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Want to cry at work? Go for it, say some experts. Compassionate leadership is in vogue. An EY Consulting survey found that 90% of U.S. workers believe empathetic leadership leads to higher job satisfaction, and 79% said it decreases employee turnover. Business leaders say they’re pressured to care more, show more empathy and compassion and be kinder. While those soft skills are essential, many leaders—especially men—often look with a blank stare, clueless on how to apply those skills. What does this mean for leaders who are not in touch with their feelings and don’t know how to express the essential soft skills? Do they sit and cry with employees as they sob about their work struggles? Do they try to counsel them when they don’t have either the credentials or expertise? Do they try to be vulnerable with their own feelings when they don’t know how? Maybe it’s time to explicate exactly how leaders who have been trained only … [Read more...] about Crying At Work No Longer Taboo Under Compassionate Leadership, According To Some Experts
Building A World-Changing Company Starts With One Key Ingredient: Trust
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Claire Chandler , Executive Leadership Advisor at Talent Boost. Growth on Purpose: I examine how leadership shapes the world. When I work with leaders, I’m always amused by how they enter a room. In high-functioning, highly successful organizations, they tend to walk in with a collegial spirit, connecting with their colleagues on a personal level before turning to the business discussion. In organizations that are still forming their core, their culture, and/or their strategy, the entrance is far different. Too often, those latter leaders walk into the room with their guard up. If they speak to their colleagues at all, they cut straight to business. It’s as though each of them is playing a role, rather than leaning in, rolling up their sleeves, and willing themselves to work together as co-creators. Who are they guarded against? Typically, it’s the ranking executive in the room. And that guardedness … [Read more...] about Building A World-Changing Company Starts With One Key Ingredient: Trust
Lack Of Trust Can Make Workplaces Sick And Dysfunctional
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A lack of trust in the workplace is the virus that can create a diseased workplace culture. It often begins with leadership and spreads throughout the team, leading to a cycle of unhealthy responses that affect engagement and productivity. In my work helping hundreds of organizations improve their company cultures, I've found that a lack of trust is often at the core of dysfunctional office environments. Once trust is lost, it can take time and a lot of work to turn around a negative culture. In my experience, there are three directions of trust that workplaces need to be healthy: The team must trust the leader, the leader must trust the team and team members must trust each other. We often hear about leaders needing to earn trust from their employees, but many don't recognize the importance of trust in the other two directions. Team members who don't trust their leaders are likely working the bare minimum and … [Read more...] about Lack Of Trust Can Make Workplaces Sick And Dysfunctional
