(Image: AP) If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, the legal and culture wars over abortion that have consumed the United States for decades would increasingly be fought on a new front: abortion pills. Medication abortion — a two-drug combination that can be taken at home or in any location and is authorized for use in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy — has become more and more prevalent and now accounts for more than half of recent abortions in the United States. If the federal guarantee of abortion rights disappears, medication abortion would likely become an even more sought-after method for terminating a pregnancy — and the focus of battles between states that ban abortion and those that continue to allow it. “Given that most abortions are early and medication abortion is harder to trace and already kind of becoming the majority or preferred method, it’s going to be a big deal,” said Mary Ziegler, a visiting law professor at Harvard. “It’s going to generate a lot of … [Read more...] about Abortion Pills Stand to Become the Next Battleground in a Post-Roe America

Madhusudhan KM Moneycontrol Contributor In the digitally-driven world of today, strategic organisational direction for most businesses is not complete without weaving in a robust digital strategy. The right approach to an effective digital strategy is to first re-imagine business processes and then think about how technologies can help realise them. Thinking of just "digitising" existing business processes, and not overhauling them, would only give incremental benefit, but that won't differentiate them from competitors. For example, for millennial leisure travellers, booking processes could be completely reimagined by allowing one to search for "I have $1000. Tell me where I can go for a nice beach vacation". This is a completely different approach from allowing travel searches based on an origin-destination pair. The latter assumes that the traveller knows exactly where he/she wants to go. The new approach could allow for way more exploration and discovery and an … [Read more...] about Digital transformation – Reimagining businesses with a difference
Nazem Kadri’s rap sheet is so long, at this point, you could zipline that bugger over the Royal Gorge. Counting Friday night, the Avs center’s now been suspended six times by the NHL since November 2013. It’s the man’s fourth multi-game suspension over his last 23 playoff appearances. I don’t care what the NHL rulebook says. I don’t care what a good citizen Kadri had been in burgundy for the 18 months prior to Wednesday. Nasty Naz is the walking, breathing, skating, head-hunting definition of a “repeat offender.” Eight games? He got what was coming. He got lucky. “It’s a lot of games,” Avs winger Brandon Saad said of Kadri after Colorado stomped the Blues in St. Louis 5-1 to snatch a 3-0 stranglehold in their first-round playoff series. “That’s a tough one for our team. Have to solider on, next man up, and try to win games without him.” If Game 3 was any harbinger, that shouldn’t be much of an issue. Not during this round, kids. The Avs are in the Blues’ heads now, as … [Read more...] about Keeler: Nazem Kadri got what he deserved Friday. So did the Blues, who gave Avalanche their best shot and still got stomped.

It can and has been done. What you do before bed can play a role in how primed your brain is for this kind of creativity. Research has repeatedly found that sleep improves people’s ability to come up with creative solutions to problems. Psychologists from UC San Diego found that REM sleep improves the creative process more than any other state–asleep or awake. And often the solutions to problems come to us when we are sleeping because of a phenomenon cognitive scientists call “pattern recognition.” This happens when the brain is in a relaxed enough state to create new connections and neural pathways–also known as … [Read more...] about Do These 3 Things Before Bed To Hack Your Creativity While You Sleep
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin An overwhelming number of U.S. registered voters say they support higher tariffs on goods imported from China. According to a poll released this week by Morning Consult, 73% of survey respondents said they support the U.S. government using trade remedies on China to protect U.S. industries and American workers with a similar high number — 71% — supporting the trade war tariffs imposed on $250 billion worth of China imports during the Trump administration. Even with inflation at levels not seen since the 1970s, American voters seem willing to force companies to import from elsewhere or make it locally instead. “I am not surprised by these numbers,” says Harsh Khurana, CEO of WeCultivate, a tech company funded in part by Mark Cuban , that works as a browser extension on Amazon AMZN to show consumers American-made products. “Tariffs hurt the American consumer more than they hurt China's manufacturing because the … [Read more...] about Sorry, China.
