There is perhaps no city more interested in backup quarterbacks and point guards than Philadelphia. At least in basketball, you don't have to bench Ben Simmons completely to get Bobby Hoying involved. The Markelle Fultz saga (I feel like saga is just attached to his name now, at this point) has thrust backup guard T.J. McConnell back into the spotlight for Philadelphia, with various rumors bubbling to the surface about his value around the league. Who better to turn to than Adrian Wojnarowski, who joined Ryen Russilo on last Thursday's episode of The Russilo Show, and had this to say about McConnell's value on the trade market: T.J. McConnell, who had been the source of some trade talks...think about this, T.J. McConnell probably could have gotten, in fact, I'm very confident T.J. could have gotten Philadelphia a first-round pick in the last few weeks. Markelle Fultz probably can't, think about that. There are so many teams who need a point guard, either a really strong backup or a … [Read more...] about NBA Trade Rumors: Can Sixers afford to turn down first-round pick for T.J. McConnell?

A lot of the talk surrounding the Phillies this offseason has focused on a pair of names, Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. And for good reason. Those two are the top free agent hitters available this winter, and not only are the Phillies reportedly interested in signing one (or both), but they're also the current betting favorites to land Machado and Harper. But the Phillies, who despite a major improvement over recent seasons still failed to finish .500 or better in 2018, also need pitching help. Here's a look at their starting rotation from last season. The NFL's trade deadline is just around the corner. It seems pretty likely, especially if they can take care of the Jaguars in Week 8, that the Eagles will be buyers. Here is the latest buzz around some big names linked to Philly of late:Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, PackersThe Packers safety is entering a contract year and the team has a lot of depth at the position, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. And if the former first-round pick and Pro Bowler gets moved, Philadelphia is a reasonable landing spot. Rodney McLeod is probably out for the year and Corey Graham is banged up — the Eagles have been experimenting with rookie cornerback Avonte Maddox at the position. If the Eagles hope to contend down the stretch they may need some serious reinforcements in the secondary. With his contract expiring, the price for Clinton-Dix could be reasonable.Janoris Jenkins, Gareon Conley, CB, Giants/RaidersBoth the Giants and Raiders are in the midst of fire sales, and the Eagles … [Read more...] about NFL trade rumors: Are Eagles in on DeSean Jackson, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix or DeVante Parker?
The NFL trade deadline is now less than two weeks away, which is much closer than it even sounds, and the rumor mill seems to be working overtime compared to recent seasons — as typically it's the MLB and NBA deadlines that offer the most excitement. On Monday, our own Jimmy Kempski took a look at four areas of need on the Philadelphia Eagles that the team could look to upgrade before the deadline. So in today's trade-heavy edition of 'What They're Saying,' we're going to take a look at some of the latest NFL trade rumors and how they impact the Eagles, with a specific focus on the four positions Jimmy wrote about on Monday.Running backWe've heard the Le'Veon Bell and LeSean McCoy rumors for a while now — you can read the latest on McCoy, here — but what if the Eagles look to make a slightly smaller splash at the deadline, as Jimmy Kempski suggests:The Eagles could add a running back, but the need for a big name guy isn't there. If the Eagles deal for a back, I … [Read more...] about What they’re saying: How the latest NFL trade rumors impact the Eagles
Reports say Jimmy Butler (right) is not a big fan of teammate Karl-Anthony Towns and may want out of Minnesota. (Photo by Zhong Zhi/Getty Images) SACRAMENTO – With the free agent market drying up, teams now will start re-assessing their trade options, something the Miami Heat were forced to do from the start. The Heat were not a player in free agency this season with a roster that comes in about $18 million over the salary cap. That left Pat Riley’s lone avenue to upgrade the team through the trade market, which even for Riley will be difficult given the makeup of the roster. Here are where things stand with three names when it comes to the Heat: Hassan Whiteside: The biggest question surrounding the Heat this summer is if Riley will be able to pull off a deal involving Whiteside. The market for Whiteside and the $52.5 million remaining on his contract was not great to start with and has diminished following the draft and free agency. Less than a month ago Phoenix, Dallas … [Read more...] about What are Heat’s trade options now when it comes to Hassan Whiteside, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler? An update
