Scene from “Mars Ravelo’s Darna” Three years since she first began working on the latest version of the action-adventure series “Mars Ravelo’s Darna,” and with it premiering on the small screen next week, lead actress Jane de Leon confessed that she has yet to personally discover the answer to why she deserves to portray the iconic Filipino superheroine. “I share the same sentiments with my bashers, who kept asking the question, ‘Why her?’ That’s what I have been asking myself, too. With all the more popular and extremely talented women in the industry, why did God pick me to play her for this generation? I recently decided to just surrender everything to Him. I know that everything happens for a reason, so maybe I will discover that before we finish working on the show,” Jane told reporters during the recent grand launch of the series directed by Chito Roño. Jane said she was also aware that her portrayal of Darna, and the alterego Narda, will be compared to the performances of … [Read more...] about Why latest ‘Darna’ the ‘woke version,’ according to Jane de Leon and series nemesis Janella Salvador

Google Search is rolling out its long-awaited updates to snippets
Google is rolling out changes to its featured snippets . While that text box at the top of a Google search page can be helpful, it’s also been known to spread misinformation. advertisement The tech giant announced Thursday it was rolling out its latest AI model , called the multitask unified model, in an attempt to deliver more accurate information. Google said that the model can now understand the notion of consensus, which in this case is when multiple high-quality sources all agree on the same fact. The algorithm is supposed to be able to check snippet callouts (when the words above the featured snippet are in a larger font) against other sources on the web to see if there’s a general consensus, even if they use different words or concepts to explain the same thing. There’s also the separate concern of when Google snippets information that may not be the most helpful to an answer. The search team highlighted an example that didn’t have an answer: “When did … [Read more...] about Google Search is rolling out its long-awaited updates to snippets
5 marketing concepts that need to be reexamined
ILLUSTRATIONBY RUTH MACAPAGAL There are fundamental concepts in marketing that remain relevant despite technology and changing consumer behaviors. This is important since what we know strongly influences what we do. Marketers (and entrepreneurs) need not wait for the consequences of a wrong action to influence new knowledge. Here is a list of five concepts marketers should look into to check if they have the right understanding of the business of marketing. 1. Needs and wants of the customers have to be identified First, most customers don’t even know what they actually need or want. They may know what they dislike but when it comes to new product design, it is still the domain of a company’s technical group, usually influenced by the company’s visionaries. The most they can do during the dominance of the manual blood pressure monitor era is to cite the pain points … [Read more...] about 5 marketing concepts that need to be reexamined
3 “Cash Loaded” Funds Almost All Investors Miss (Yields Up To 8%)
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I’m always shocked when dividend investors ignore tech stocks. Which means I’m shocked a lot, because pretty well all income-seekers do it! That’s because most folks still think of technology as the home of profitless startups, crumbling crypto platforms or zero-dividend names like Tesla TSLA (TSLA) and Amazon AMZN .com (AMZN). But the truth is, big caps dominate the tech space, and on the whole, the sector is sitting on some of the biggest cash hoards on Wall Street. Apple AAPL (AAPL), of course, holds a legendary $202 billion. As of February, that amounted to more than 7% of the cash holdings of all S&P 500 companies! Alphabet, too, holds north of $160 billion. Microsoft MSFT ? $132 billion. The list goes on. The problem? These companies are in no hurry to hand that cash over to us dividend investors. All pay low (or no!) dividends. But there is a “backdoor” way for us to tap … [Read more...] about 3 “Cash Loaded” Funds Almost All Investors Miss (Yields Up To 8%)

(March 26, 2018 / INQUIRER/ MARIANNE BERMUDEZ) Geneva, Switzerland — The total global number of unemployed youths should fall to 73 million in 2022, down by two million from the year before, the United Nations said Thursday.
