Axiata’s planned 66% stake buy in Link Net approved by majority of shareholders
- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (May 26): Axiata Group Bhd has secured approval from the majority of its shareholders to proceed with its proposed acquisition of a 66.03% stake in Indonesia's PT Link Net Tbk (LinkNet) for 8.72 trillion rupiah (about RM2.55 billion), with 57.83% of those present and voting giving their nod, while 42.17% were against it -- including its third largest shareholder, Permodalan Nasional Bhd. The approving majority represented 4.837 billion shares, while the dissenting had 3.527 billion shares. Axiata group chairman Tan Sri Shahril Ridza Ridzuan told reporters after the EGM that the dissenting voters were mostly concerned about the impact on the company's balance sheet. “But I think we do have the time to explain, basically, to the shareholders, that the balance sheet is manageable,” he said. Zanjoe Marudo MANILA, Philippines–It was not Vhong Navarro but it was his friend and fellow actor Zanjoe Marudo who made the first move on Deniece Cornejo. In an affidavit submitted to the Taguig Prosecutors Office on Wednesday, Cornejo narrated that she saw Navarro sometime in 2011 in a store of a Makati mall where he was endorsing an international shoe brand. While shopping shoes for her brothers, Cornejo saw Navarro staring at her while uttering “ang ganda talaga (she is so beautiful).” Marudo, who accompanied Navarro in the launch, made a move to Cornejo without even formally introducing himself. In the affidavit, Cornejo said: “His companion, Xanjo (Zanjoe) Marudo (sic), without introductions, suddenly asked me ‘Para sa boyfriend mo? Vhong Navarro gets death threats, says lawyer
MANILA, Philippines—Actor Vhong Navarro has been receiving threatening text messages since the mauling incident that involved businessman Cedric Lee and model Deniece Millet Cornejo, Navarro’s lawyer said. “Mr. Vhong has been receiving anonymous text messages that contain threats,” attorney Dennis Manalo said in a televised interview Friday. Manalo added that an unknown man also visited Navarro’s residence and asked to open the gate after the actor appeared on television about the mauling incident. In his affidavit to the National Bureau of Investigation, Navarro said he was inside Cornejo’s condominium unit when two men came out of the room and one pointed a gun at the comedian-TV host. They then tied and blindfolded Navarro and simultaneously rained blows on him, he said.
