He said youths played a big role in shaping the nation, especially in electing national leaders in line with the amendment to the Federal Constitution that guarantees their right to vote. The company’s market capitalisation is now down to RM315 million. Serba’s market cap was close to RM6 billion a year ago, when KPMG PLT red-flagged its accounts and reported the matter — as required by law — to the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC). KPMG’s audit alert was the start of Serba’s fall from grace. In the last one year, its shareholders have lost 95% of the value of their shares in the company. The company is battling creditors and needs to come up with a scheme to restructure its debts of RM1.8 billion and US$42.4 million to lenders, including bondholders. - A + A KUALA LUMPUR (May 19): Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd and its four subsidiaries' application for a scheme of arrangement and a restraining order (RO) against its creditors will now be heard before one High Court judge. This follows Justice Ong Chee Kwan from the High Court's commercial division on Thursday agreeing to transfer three of the cases filed before his court to Justice Atan Mustaffa Yussof Ahmad's court. Both Justice Ong and Justice Atan were confirmed as High Court judges last month following their elevation as judicial commissioners. The matter came up before Justice Ong first in the morning when he presided the case involving one of Serba Dinamik directors, Datuk Abdul Kadier Sahib, who has a 16.33% stake in the group, and two subsidiaries — Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd (SDSB) and Serba Dinamik Development Sdn Bhd (SDDSB). Lee Lee Lan, celebrated Malaysian dancer and choreographer, dies aged 77
Malaysian dancer, ballet advocate and choreographer Lee Lee Lan, considered one of the beloved arts pioneers in the local dance scene, died yesterday (May 16) at the age of 77, according to her son Larry Lee, a spokesperson for the Federal Academy of Ballet. Born in Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur, Lee Lee Lan (real name Tan Lee Lan) began dancing actively in the late 1950s when her two older sisters introduced her to ballet. Her journey in the dance scene in the 1960s wasn’t an easy one as she faced several obstacles and challenges in training and learning ballet in Malaysia. In the early 1960s, she took ballet lessons at a school in Batu Road (now Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman in KL) under dance teachers Soonee Goh and Blossom Shek. She later trained under British ballet teacher Ethel Foxcroft.
