The 12 Principles of Generous Leadership

February 24, 2022 by www.inc.com

I once had an associate, one of my all-time best, who was a rising star but lacked genuine empathy for his direct reports. It was a career blocker for him. I noticed him going through the motions of acting as if he cared, but it rang hollow and not just to me. In one of our one-to-one monthly discussions, I asked him point-blank, "Are you doing that because you want people to do what you ask, or are you doing it because you truly care?" I believe my candor shocked him, but I'd made my point. After that meeting, I noticed him begin to demonstrate real compassion and generosity , and many others told me they noticed too. Had we not had that conversation, it would have been unfair to him--a disservice. He later left to become the co-founder and CEO of a well-financed, ambitious startup. There are many different kinds of generosity and many different ways to be generous with your team. A companywide pizza party is one small, obvious gift, but I like to think … [Read more...] about The 12 Principles of Generous Leadership

Research shows that happier people are more successful people. That's reason enough to make a point of being happy at work. But wait--there's more! Take time for yourself in the morning without technology With alarms being on iPhones, this is a little impossible, but try putting your phone away after you turn off your alarm. Eat breakfast without checking your email. Enjoy a cup of coffee without checking voicemails. Giving yourself technology-free time in the morning , even if it's only 30 minutes, starts your day on a peaceful note. 2. Get outside more often The sun really can do miraculous things for your outlook, and a little bit goes a long way here. October wholesale price inflation rises to 5-month high of 12.5%

November 15, 2021 by www.moneycontrol.com

Representational Image. Wholesale inflation in the country surged to 12.5 percent in October, up from 10.6 percent in September mainly due to a rise in prices of fuel, food and metals. Wholesale inflation was at 11.6 percent in August and 11.5 percent in July. Measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), wholesale inflation in India strengthened after remaining low for four straight months till September, government data released on November 15 said. Economists had earlier said the September reading was reaching an inflexion point. Wholesale inflation reached record high levels in May after prices continued to rise for five straight months. The primary reason behind overall inflation having moderated in the past few months is that the rise in fuel prices was slower. While fuel inflation has not fallen to 2020 levels, the volatility had gone down. But in October, fuel inflation again rose to 37.2 percent, up from September's 24.8 percent, August's 26 percent and July's 27 … [Read more...] about October wholesale price inflation rises to 5-month high of 12.5%

Puan, better known as CC Puan, resigned as group managing director of Green Packet, which he founded, on Jan 31, 2022. The stake was initially planned to be sold to CC Puan as the second of three tranches of G3 stake sale under a share sale agreement (SSA) inked between CC Puan and Green Packet in July last year. The deal entailed sales of 612.57 million G3 Global shares for a sum of up to RM91.89 million or 15 sen per share. When are the holidays in Thailand, and what do they mean?

May 19, 2022 by thethaiger.com

There are a number of public holidays in Thailand, many of which are directly related to Buddhism or the Thai royal family. When visiting Thailand, it’s a good idea to keep tabs on when they are. Most companies and government places close on public holidays but don’t fret because tourist locations are open as usual. There is one problem that comes with a vacation in Thailand, especially if it’s a long break, and that is traffic. On holidays related to religion, alcohol won’t be sold so please, keep this in mind. Thai holidays are dependent on the lunar calendar and they will happen on different days from year to year. Below is a list of holidays in Thailand, and what they mean. Chinese New Year – Between January & February The Spring Festival delivers one of the most exciting celebrations in Yaowarat, Bangkok’s Chinatown. HDFC Life aims to more than double its embedded value to Rs 60,000 crore by FY27

May 19, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Private sector insurer HDFC Life Insurance has set an ambitious target of more than doubling its embedded value to Rs 60,000 crore in the next five years, buoyed by a similar feat achieved during the past five years. The HDFC group company has also set a target of doubling its Assets Under Management (AUM) to Rs 4 lakh crore from the present Rs 2 lakh crore during the same time period. The company closed FY22 with embedded value at Rs 30,000 crore, up from Rs 26,617 crore in FY21, and an AUM of Rs 2.04 lakh crore which was 17 per cent higher than the preceding financial year. The Embedded Value (EV) — a key measure of growth and profitability of a life insurer — is determined by the present value of the firm’s future profit plus adjusted net asset value. HDFC Life’s EV was Rs 10,200 crore in FY16, which rose to Rs 12,500 crore next year, Rs 15,200 crore in FY18, Rs 20,700 crore in FY20 and Rs 26,617 crore in FY21. Close This shows that the company’s EV has … [Read more...] about HDFC Life aims to more than double its embedded value to Rs 60,000 crore by FY27

Why Tesla Could Become The Netflix Of The EV Market

May 19, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Netflix NFLX was a pioneer in the online streaming industry. This year, it became clear that the incumbents had finally caught up. What’s more, Netflix is not poised — as it was in 2007 — to enjoy rapid upward growth by creating a new industry that builds on its strengths. Now — after reporting a drop in subscribers — its stock trades 74% below its October 2021 peak. Could the same thing happen to Tesla? An MIT professor and a J.D. Power & Associates executive told me that Tesla — whose stock sits 43% below its high — will face considerable challenges from incumbents. However, by improving its vehicle design, offering a broader product selection, boosting manufacturing quality, and upgrading its customer service, they could envision Tesla sustaining its rapid growth by capturing more mainstream customers. How Netflix Lost Its Edge For years, Netflix defied analysts who said that the likes of Disney, … [Read more...] about Why Tesla Could Become The Netflix Of The EV Market

Grab revenue rises, loss narrows on delivery, ride demand

May 19, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A (May 19): Grab Holdings Ltd said revenue rose 6% in the first quarter after the ride-hailing and delivery company won back consumers as the pandemic receded in Southeast Asia. Revenue increased to US$228 million after the Singapore-based company added sales from Jaya Grocer, a platform it acquired in January. That was more than the US$139.2 million analysts were expecting, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Grab’s net loss narrowed to US$435 million, as the company fights to gain profitability following years of heavy spending in pursuit of market share. The company managed to grow paying users 10% to 30.9 million after Southeast Asian countries removed pandemic-era restrictions. Per-user spending climbed 19%, it said. Unlike other Internet companies that are grappling with cooling post-Covid online activity, Grab’s car-hailing and delivery businesses benefit as life returned to normal. The company had struggled since becoming a publicly listed … [Read more...] about Grab revenue rises, loss narrows on delivery, ride demand
