(AP) — A powerful tornado cut a devastating path through Mississippi Friday night, killing more than two dozen people and obliterating dozens of buildings, as it stayed on the ground for more than an hour. The tornado flattened entire blocks of the small Mississippi Delta town of Rolling Fork, reducing homes to piles of rubble, flipping cars on their sides and toppling the water tower. Residents hunkered down in bath tubs and broke into a John Deere store that they converted into a triage center for the wounded. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency announced late Saturday afternoon in a tweet that the death toll had risen to 25 from 23. Four who were missing have been found but dozens also were injured. Meanwhile other parts of the Deep South were digging out from damage caused by other suspected twisters. (CTN News) – Due to a rare, long-track tornado that swept through western Mississippi on Friday night, at least 23 people were killed and thousands of homes left without power. As a result of last night’s tornadoes, 23 people have been confirmed dead, dozens have been injured, and four are still missing, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. Many local and state search and rescue teams have continued to work this morning. A number of assets have been deployed to assist those who have been affected.” It is estimated that a tornado touched down in Rolling Fork, about one hour’s drive from Jackson, Miss., at approximately 8 p.m. According to Lance Perrilloux , a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, it occurred around 8 p.m. local time. In addition to charging for faster service, they’re raising minimum purchase requirements and shifting more costs to consumers who are struggling. According to Morris, many retailers are starting to charge for better seating, luggage transportation, and frequent flyer points. Free shipping raises retailer prices. Despite this, product inflation and soaring shipping costs make the service unsustainable. The company underwrote its package delivery costs with pricey prime subscriptions and fat profits from other businesses.
