March 20, 2023 by dailycaller.com

Los Angeles meteorologist Alissa Carlson Schwartz suffered a horrifying on-air emergency while reporting live on Saturday. Schwartz seemed fine at the beginning of her 7 a.m. broadcast, but things changed midway through her conversation with fellow co-anchors Nichelle Medina and Rachel Kim. Schwartz began to look pale, then leaned forward awkwardly while Medina and Kim were speaking. Horrifying video of the medical emergency showed her eyes rolling into the back of her head as she lost control of her body. She tried to steady herself, but her head slumped as she lost consciousness and fell to the floor. The collapsed news anchor footage from this morning is horrifying. pic.twitter.com/OaMgJCUCEU — DiedSuddenly (@DiedSuddenly_) March 19, 2023 Medina and Kim continued speaking for a few seconds before realizing something was wrong with Schwartz. “We’re going to take a quick break right now,” they said, when it became apparent that Schwartz needed medical … [Read more...] about Shocking Video Of News Anchor Suffering On-Air Medical Emergency

Indonesia now Asia’s Covid-19 epicentre as daily cases exceed India

July 16, 2021 by thethaiger.com

Photo by Fadil Fauzi for Unsplash Indonesia has become the epicentre of Covid-19 in Asia as the daily case count has exceeded India’s. The country reported 56,757 new cases and 982 coronavirus-related deaths yesterday, surpassing India’s count of 39,072 new cases and 544 deaths. With the highest number of daily cases, the archipelago country of 270 million people is now the new Covid-hotspot in Asia, and if the spread continues at its current rate, experts say it could send the nation’s healthcare system into chaos. But to put that into perspective, per capita, it’s about the same rate of new cases as Thailand at this time. Some speculate that the numbers in Indonesia are in fact much higher than reported. In Jakarta, almost half of the 10.6 million residents contracted Covid-19, according to a recent survey. With the recent uptick in cases said to be due to the emergence of the highly transmissible Delta variant, officials are concerned the healthcare system won’t be able to … [Read more...] about Indonesia now Asia’s Covid-19 epicentre as daily cases exceed India

‘Climate time bomb ticking’, emissions must urgently be cut – UN chief

March 21, 2023 by newsinfo.inquirer.net

A firefighter hoses down flames from the Mosquito Fire as it burns in Foresthill in Placer County, California, US, September 7, 2022. REUTERS/Fred Greaves UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned that the “climate time bomb is ticking” as he urged rich nations on Monday to slash emissions sooner after a new assessment from scientists said there was little time to lose in tackling climate change. “The rate of temperature rise in the last half century is the highest in 2,000 years,” he said. “Concentrations of carbon dioxide are at their highest in at least 2 million years. The climate time-bomb is ticking.” In a recorded address, Guterres described the sixth “synthesis report” from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as “a survival guide for humanity” and urged developed countries to commit to reaching net zero emissions by the earlier date of around 2040. The synthesis report summarised findings from three expert assessments published between 2021 and … [Read more...] about ‘Climate time bomb ticking’, emissions must urgently be cut – UN chief

Busting That Chinese Spy Balloon Is Harder Than You Think (Updated: ‘Well That Was Easy’)

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Pentagon has been tracking a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon which flew over sensitive areas in Montana in recent days, apparently the latest of several such incursions. President Biden reportedly proposed that the intruder be shot down , but the Pentagon opposed this action, citing the risk of civilian casualties. In fact, bringing down this type of balloon may be extremely difficult, as it is likely to be highly resistant to the available weapons. It may look fragile, but the sheer size and construction of a stratospheric balloon makes it all but invulnerable. There is also the problem of getting to it. Such balloons ride high in the stratosphere , far above the airliners. They do this to take advantage of the change in wind direction with altitude to steer themselves to where they are needed like sailing ships, then circling above a point of interest. The U.S. military has its own stratospheric spy … [Read more...] about Busting That Chinese Spy Balloon Is Harder Than You Think (Updated: ‘Well That Was Easy’)

Ukrainian Troops Tap Their Best Firepower To Kill Russians On Bakhmut’s Vulnerable Flanks

March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Fighting rages north and south of Bakhmut as Russian regiments race against time, and their dwindling combat power , in a desperate effort to surround the ruined city and cut off its Ukrainian garrison. The Ukrainians meanwhile have dug in in the most defensible quarters of Bakhmut. With supplies of heavy artillery running low, they’re picking their targets carefully—aiming to kill as many Russians as possible with as few weapons as possible. Which side makes the most efficient use of precious military resources might ultimately prevail in Bakhmut, a city with a pre-war population of 70,000 that anchors the front line in Donetsk Oblast, in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region. A dramatic strike on a Russian patrol base in Yahidne, just north of Bakhmut, on or before Sunday underscores the Ukrainians’ selective violence. As a drone from the Ukrainian 93rd Mechanized Brigade watched , a powerful munition or … [Read more...] about Ukrainian Troops Tap Their Best Firepower To Kill Russians On Bakhmut’s Vulnerable Flanks
