By Matt Schoch Special to The Detroit News Published 1:14 PM EST Dec 11, 2018 The Lions improving run defense always has been good at one aspect this season, which figures to be put to the test on Sunday. After containing the scrambling of quarterbacks such as Russell Wilson, Mitch Trubisky and Cam Newton this season, a strong-armed rookie from Wyoming is the Lions’ biggest test yet in that regard. The Lions (5-8) have allowed just 62 yards on the ground to quarterbacks on 34 carries this season, with Wilson’s 11-yard first quarter run on Oct. 28 as the only rush of double-digit yardage this season. But Buffalo’s Josh Allen, the seventh pick of the draft, has three straight games of rushing yardage that are each more than the Lions have allowed all season to a quarterback. He also has 16 plays this season of 11 or more yards on a carry, including 11 in the last three games. “We’re just looking at someone that has been very explosive, very dynamic as … [Read more...] about Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen will test Detroit Lions’ QB rushing defense
By John Wawrow Associated Press Published 8:01 PM EST Dec 9, 2018 Orchard Park, N.Y. — Sam Darnold had difficulty containing his excitement after the New York Jets rookie enjoyed his first fourth-quarter comeback victory in the NFL. On the other side of the tunnel, Buffalo rookie Josh Allen had difficulty keeping his frustrations in check after his three turnovers contributed to costing the Bills. Darnold, drafted third overall, one-upped Allen in their first meeting as AFC East rivals by rallying the Jets to a 27-23 win Sunday. “As a kid, you dream of converting two-minute drives and going down there and scoring,” Darnold said. “To be able to score a touchdown and put the ball in their hands at the end of the game was awesome.” Allen, drafted seventh overall, was left dejected in a game he outran, out-passed and ultimately out-turnovered Darnold. “I’ve got to be smarter with the football,” said Allen, who threw two … [Read more...] about Detroit Lions’ next opponent: Josh Allen’s turnovers cost Buffalo Bills

On Sunday, Allen led the Bills to a 24-21 win over Ramsey and the Jaguars. Shortly after the win, the Bills went on to troll Ramsey for his comments on Twitter. Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen made his return to the lineup for the first time since Week 6. Allen threw a 75-yard touchdown in the first quarter, showing off his massive arm strength. Allen’s ability to move the ball immediately makes a difference in the Bills offence. The Buffalo Bills offence has struggled nearly all season, but the return of rookie quarterback Josh Allen appears to have gotten them back on track. Allen made his first start since Week 6, and immediately reminded the NFL world of the arm talent that made him a first-round pick. In the first quarter, Allen dropped back, and with the pocket collapsing and the Jacksonville Jaguars defence bearing down on him, delivered a huge strike to wide receiver Robert Foster. Foster carried the ball the rest of the way to the end zone for a 75-yard score. Questions remain about Allen’s ability to play quarterback at the NFL level. He’s still thrown more interceptions than touchdowns and he can … [Read more...] about Bills rookie Josh Allen showed off his insane arm with a 75-yard touchdown
