Phuket’s Outrigger T20 cricket: Round 7

August 23, 2013 by thethaiger.com

PHUKET: On a sunny Sunday for round 7 of Phuket’s Outrigger T20 Cricket league, ICC took on the Youth side in the morning session, while the Village faced Patong in the afternoon session. In the morning match, ICC notched up a solid 162-7 batting first while the Youth could only manage 125-6 in reply. The much anticipated afternoon encounter between the Village and Patong, saw the Village continue on their winning ways chasing down Patong’s 141-7 in the 19th over. After winning the toss, ICC chose to bat and set a target, but lost big hitting Ali Khan (0) for a golden duck in the 1st over. Fellow opener Shah Ullah (31) top scored for ICC and was well supported by the middle order with Balesh Desai (26), Arif Mushtaq (25), Vikram Sharma (16), Ravi Naik (11) and Deepak Mehra (10) enabling ICC to post a solid total of 162-7 from their 20 overs. With a target of over 8 runs per over, the chase by the Youth was not going to be an easy one and they needed some of their experienced … [Read more...] about Phuket’s Outrigger T20 cricket: Round 7

UEFA’s Champions League Changes Benefit The ‘Big Six’ … And Newcastle United

May 11, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin UEFA have once again changed their plans for the Champions League. From the 2024-25 season, there will still be four extra teams compared to the current format, but the way those extra places are allocated has been slightly tweaked. The controversial plan to award two spots to the teams with the best UEFA coefficient has been dropped. Those two spots will instead go to the fifth-place team from the two best leagues in UEFA — most likely La Liga and the Premier League. That change still benefits the so-called "big six" of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. But it also means that the Champions League is a little bit more open to other Premier League sides, especially compared to the previous proposal. Instead of a "race for fourth", there will be a "race for fifth" and that is a race that is easier for a team outside the "big six" to win. Leicester City … [Read more...] about UEFA’s Champions League Changes Benefit The ‘Big Six’ … And Newcastle United

Clean Energy | Betting on hydrogen is the right way to go ahead

February 17, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Hydrogen is the new aspiration in India’s energy landscape that has the potential to wipe out the country’s annual fossil-fuel import bill of a staggering $160 billion, and place Indian entrepreneurship at the forefront of the green industrial revolution that is sweeping the planet. Hydrogen is increasingly being seen as the ideal green fuel that can replace polluting fossil fuels in the world where a strong consensus against fossil fuels has emerged as climate change has caused severe droughts, floods and extreme temperatures. However, hydrogen as a source of genuinely clean energy is still work in progress. The problem is that globally, almost the entire production of hydrogen is based on the use of fossil fuels, which dents its green credentials, even though its use to power fuel-cell based motors is totally emission free. The solution is to use clean electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, but the cost of doing this is currently prohibitive. Hydrogen produced … [Read more...] about Clean Energy | Betting on hydrogen is the right way to go ahead

The FTX US Proposal That Shook Congress And The Crypto Derivatives World

April 27, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin May 2, 2022 4:41pm ET: Story updated. Last month, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) sought public comment on a request from FTX US to modify its derivatives clearing organization (DCO) license to offer a new kind of crypto margin trading to U.S. retail customers. FTX US is requesting the ability to use a new kind of ‘non-intermediated’ model of crypto derivatives trading, meaning there is no intermediary used to hold customer’s funds. As crypto exchanges typically take collateral from the customer directly, the FTX US model would directly custody the margin from retail customers and liquidate positions held by the exchange on a 24-7-365 basis. Under the FTX US model, the customer’s positions will be reviewed for potential margin calls every 30 seconds. Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO of FTX, recently described this model to Congress as, “...a 24/7 risk engine that is unlike the traditional system where there … [Read more...] about The FTX US Proposal That Shook Congress And The Crypto Derivatives World
