By Li Yuan , The New York Times Company Like many ambitious young Chinese, Zhao Junfeng studied hard in college and graduate school so he could land a coveted job as a programmer at a big Chinese internet company. After finishing graduate school in 2019, he joined an e-commerce company in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing, got married and adopted a cat named Mango. In November 2021, he moved to Shanghai to join one of China’s biggest video platforms, iQiyi. He was on track to achieve a much-desired middle-class life, documenting his rise on his social media account. Then barely a month into his new job, he was let go when iQiyi laid off more than 20% of its staff. Jobs for people with records
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Great Resignation has left millions of positions unfilled, as US workers continue to leave jobs in record numbers. Where is the change management that will turn the tide ? Employers are hungry for new ideas to help keep workers engaged, while reducing turnover. Despite current change management efforts, 55% of workers plan to seek new opportunities (according to Bankrate.com ). Job security and better pay are top concerns for employees. But those concerns are topped by family matters. So, evidently change management isn’t managing what matters. And that’s why workers are going to continue to make decisions that change the status quo. Americans are prioritizing flexible work arrangements (56 percent) and greater job security (47 percent), according to that Bankrate survey. Employers struggle to find the change management magic that can deliver on those concerns. Indeed, it is a delicate balance between what companies … [Read more...] about Why Change Management Doesn’t Work: Millions Are Still Leaving The Workforce—Should You?

Social media company Pinterest ( NYSE:PINS ) is down by roughly 60% from its 2021 highs, and it isn't just because of the broad sell-off in growth stocks. Instead, Pinterest investors were justifiably alarmed to learn the platform's user base actually shrunk for the past two quarters in a row. In this Fool Live video clip, recorded on Jan. 10 , Fool.com contributors Matt Frankel and Danny Vena discuss why Pinterest's user growth trend could reverse course in 2022, and why the user base isn't even the most important part of the business to pay attention to. Matt Frankel: I wouldn't be surprised to see this trend reverse in the fourth quarter and especially in the first quarter of 2022 because what's going on right now, another big COVID surge. Some schools are closing, people are being forced to stay home, a lot of offices returned to remote work, things like that. No. 1, I can see this trend reversing significantly as we head into 2022. But more importantly, we … [Read more...] about Will Pinterest Stock Rebound Sharply in 2022?
