Airbus SE has emerged as the front-runner to win an order for as many as 50 aircraft worth up to $5.5 billion from Jet Airways India Ltd., people familiar with the matter said, solidifying the European planemaker’s hold in the world’s fastest-growing aviation market. The talks are for A320neo jets and A220 planes, the people said, asking not to be identified because the deliberations are private. Boeing Co. and Embraer SA are also in discussions and no final decision has been taken, the people said. Although at sticker prices any transaction would be north of $5 billion, discounts are common in such large purchases. While delivery slots are scarce, airlines can lease jets from lessors who buy in bulk. Representatives for Boeing and Airbus didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. The potential order comes as Jet Airways, once India’s top private airline, is preparing to return to the skies. Qantas Airways is gearing up to resume flights from Sydney to Bangkok and Phuket from early next year, with the Aussie airline keen to get the ball rolling as international travel restrictions are gradually being lifted. Sydney is set to see the resumption of regular routes in January, more than two months ahead of schedule, as both the federal and state governments have moved to pave the way for the reopening of international borders. The New South Wales government has confirmed that quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated arrivals will be removed from November 1. While ahead of schedule, it will nonetheless be a staged resumption of services, with the Australian government requiring that initial flights are limited to Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate families and parents. In the Covid-19 climate, however, any progress takes on additional significance, with Qantas CEO Alan Joyce labelling it “the best news we’ve had in almost two years”. An Inside Look At Sweden’s First Medical Cannabis Conference
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Cannabis has once again taken me to a far off place that I’ve never been to before. The demands of this plant can strike a devoted hempster at any moment. It was not in my strategic plan to visit a Nordic country this year, but then the Zoom zoomed, and I was invited to speak at the first medical cannabis conference in Stockholm. Next thing I know, I’m literally zooming off on a plane to Sweden to the Stockholm Medical Cannabis Conference (SMCC 2022) that took place at the Clarion Hotel on May 27th. I was asked to keynote the conference, and I wanted to make all involved feel safe to learn about cannabis medicine, and to be inspired to stay active politically so they can build on the momentum they have created so far. It’s challenging in Europe — the cannabis stigma is oppressive — and there’s still a wide perception that weed is a dangerous drug that turns users into dysfunctional outcasts and criminals. All the attendees … [Read more...] about An Inside Look At Sweden’s First Medical Cannabis Conference
