New York (CNN Business) New York Mayor Eric Adams is begging the city's business leaders, including JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon , to ride the subway to work. Adams is pushing to bring people back to New York offices after years of working from home. "We're going to get him on a train," Adams told the Financial Times in an interview . "We're going to get everyone on the train. He understands the need of getting his people back and leading from the front." JPMorgan ( JPM ) didn't immediately respond to CNN Business' request for comment. Adams is trying to corral workers back to offices just as the city elevated its Covid-19 status to "High" on Tuesday. That means the city is experiencing "high community spread" resulting in "substantial pressure" on the city's health care system, according to the health department. "We're telling our corporate leaders: 'Hey, get on the train!'" Adams said in the interview. JPMorgan shareholders reject special $52.6-million payout to CEO Jamie Dimon
File image of JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon (Image: Reuters) Only 31% of votes cast in a shareholder advisory referendum on Tuesday supported JPMorgan Chase & Co in its special $52.6-million award last year to CEO Jamie Dimon to stay on the job for at least five more years. The preliminary count announced at the meeting is an unusual rebuff from shareholders. While say-on-pay votes are only advisory and Dimon, 66, is expected to keep the award regardless, they are closely followed as a test of investors’ attitudes toward executive pay. Average support for pay packages at S&P 500 companies was 88.3% in 2021, down from 89.6% in 2020 and 90% in 2019, according to consulting firm Semler Brossy. This year two major advisory firms, from which investors take their cue when voting, had recommended that they vote “no” in JPMorgan’s vote because of the special award. Close The extra award dished out in July was the most significant change in usual Dimon’s annual … [Read more...] about JPMorgan shareholders reject special $52.6-million payout to CEO Jamie Dimon
Man City comeback keeps title in their hands, Tottenham into top four
Manchester City still have the destiny of the Premier League title in their own hands after a 2-2 draw at West Ham. LONDON: Manchester City came from 2-0 down to salvage a vital point in a 2-2 draw at West Ham to keep the Premier League title in their hands as Tottenham moved into the top four on Sunday. City travelled to the London Stadium knowing they needed a maximum of four points from their final two games of the season to guarantee a fourth title in five years. However, the Hammers took full advantage of City's injury crisis at the back as the pace and poise of Jarrod Bowen put Liverpool right back in the title race. Pep Guardiola was without Ruben Dias, John Stones and Kyle Walker and a makeshift defence was easily cut open on the counter-attack. Bowen burst onto Pablo Fornals' ball over the top to round Ederson and put City behind in a league game for the first time since February. City did not learn their lesson as Bowen broke the offside trap once more in the … [Read more...] about Man City comeback keeps title in their hands, Tottenham into top four

The ‘Blood Moon’ Total Lunar Eclipse Could Be Bloodier Than Normal
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In the late hours Sunday into early Monday morning, the full moon will slip into Earth’s shadow, creating a total lunar eclipse that will tinge the night sky satellite with a reddish hue — this is what gives the phenomenon the nickname “blood moon.” But this time scientists suspect that the celestial event will produce a moon that looks more deep red than normal, thanks to a powerful event that happened not too long ago here on Earth. Coachella Returns With A Vengeance
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Coachella, the long dominant festival which opened the season each year has been involuntarily dormant for three years, since the oncoming Covid-19 pandemic forced it to cancel in April 2020. The last iteration of Coachella played in 2019, when Billie Eilish and Lizzo killed on secondary stages and the world had no inkling of the trouble lurking just beyond the horizon. This year Billie Eilish headlined Saturday nights, while Harry Styles headlined Friday and The Weeknd in collaboration with Swedish House Mafia closed out the Sunday shows. By a quirk of circumstance, Coachella was one of the last festivals to return, after others started running at scale beginning with Rolling Loud Miami in July, 2021. So, the question this year was not what would Coachella do to set the standard, rather it was what could Coachella bring which hadn’t already played at Rolling Loud, BottleRock, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, Hard Summer, or … [Read more...] about Coachella Returns With A Vengeance
Privacy Battle Over Connected Cars Takes An Interesting Turn In California
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin So goes California, and so typically goes the country. And the North American automotive industry along with it. That's possibly the case with California and its battle over data. There is no question the automotive manufacturers want data from hundreds of sensors for a multitude of reasons ranging from warranty reduction, repair prognostics, machine learning of safety-related systems and, yes, advertising revenue. As the former CEO of Ford, Mark Fields, announced to the world in 2016 , "As our vehicles become part of the Internet of things and as consumers give permission to us to collect that data, we'll also become an information company. Our differentiator will be how we use that data to satisfy our customers in ways that they never thought possible in their lives." In fact, it's projected by 2023 that worldwide sales of connected vehicles will surpass 76 million units (70% globally, 90% in the United States) with … [Read more...] about Privacy Battle Over Connected Cars Takes An Interesting Turn In California
