Climate Goals Are Still Doable With More Renewables And Secure Financing
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Roughly 150 nations have joined forces in Abu Dhabi to keep temperature rises in check to avoid a climate breakdown. Progress abounds, especially since the Paris climate agreement in 2015. But the world is dangerously close to exceeding the 1.5 degree Celsius CEL benchmark. Is a course correction possible? That’s the purpose of COP28 in Dubai in November 2023. To that end, the World Future Energy Summit hosted 30,000 attendees, bringing together the globe’s foremost experts. Since 2015, we have known that COP28 will be momentous — the year of … [Read more...] about Climate Goals Are Still Doable With More Renewables And Secure Financing
Davos VIPs accused of ‘hypocrisy’ over private jet use
The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum will take place at Davos between Jan 16-20 Environmental lobby group Greenpeace accused attendees of the annual Davos meeting of a "distasteful masterclass in hypocrisy" on Friday over their use of private jets to travel to the event in the Swiss Alps. Ahead of the 2023 edition of the World Economic Forum (WEF) next week, the NGO said it had commissioned research which showed that people who attended last year had made roughly 500 private flights in and out of airports near the exclusive ski resort. Organisers have again promised to make climate change one of the central themes of this year's summit, while efforts have also been made to reduce the carbon footprint of the meeting and encourage VIP guests to take public transport. "Given that 80% of the world’s population has never even flown, but suffers from the consequences of climate-damaging aviation emissions, and that the WEF claims to be committed to the 1.5°C Paris … [Read more...] about Davos VIPs accused of ‘hypocrisy’ over private jet use
Napoli Defeat Highlights Every Flaw Of Max Allegri’s Juventus
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Having won eight consecutive games, Juventus had climbed into second place in the Serie A table and there was growing optimism that they had turned a corner as they approached a clash with league leaders Napoli. However, the Bianconeri would be given a rude awakening by their hosts at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona as the home side delivered a performance that laid bare every failing of their hapless opponent. Indeed, it took Napoli just 13 minutes to carve open a defence that had kept eight consecutive clean sheets as Victor Osimhen put them ahead. The striker would then turn provider 20 minutes later as he picked out Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and the Georgia international bagged his seventh goal of the campaign. But Ángel Di María would pull one back for Juve and give them some semblance of hope as the game headed into half time. That feeling would not last long. Whatever Luciano Spalletti said and did during … [Read more...] about Napoli Defeat Highlights Every Flaw Of Max Allegri’s Juventus

Editor Daily Rundown: White House, DOJ Sought To Keep Classified Doc Scandal Secret
WHITE HOUSE, DOJ SOUGHT TO KEEP CLASSIFIED DOC SCANDAL SECRET… WAPO : Inside the White House document strategy and its pitfalls Early on, Biden’s attorneys and Justice Department investigators both thought they had a shared understanding about keeping the matter quiet. But they had very different reasons. The White House was hoping for a speedy inquiry that would find no intentional mishandling of the documents, planning to disclose the matter only after Justice issued its all-clear. Federal investigators, for their part, typically try to avoid complicating any probe with a media feeding frenzy. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco declined at a news conference on Wednesday to say whether law enforcement officials suggested Biden representatives should keep quiet about the case.
