It's official. It's finally here. The brand new, updated, turbo-charged, better than ever... iPod Touch? Wait, the iPod might be one of the most significant innovations Apple has ever created, but did anyone know it still actually sold them? I'm pretty sure I still have a 5th generation iPod Video in a drawer somewhere. I even swapped out the original hard drive for a compact flash card a few years ago, but I haven't used it since I bought an iPhone . It turns out not only does Apple sell them, but the company just announced it has updated them with the A10 Fusion processor from the iPhone 7, with support for augmented reality (AR) and Group FaceTime. Apple's announcement includes an especially interesting quote from Greg Joswiak, who is Apple's vice president of product marketing. In it, Joswiak says that Apple's "making the most affordable iOS device even better with performance that is twice as fast as before." Here's why that's interesting. He … [Read more...] about Apple Just Updated a Product No One Even Knew It Still Sold

Apple Just Announced a New iPod Touch. 3 Reasons Why You Should Buy It–and 1 Big Reason Not to

That was on full display on Tuesday when Apple unveiled a new version of the iPod Touch . The new model, which costs $199, features a design similar to the old iPhone 7, but offers a new A10 Fusion chip and support for Group FaceTime. If you did a double-take on that, don't feel bad. Yes, the iPod (not the iPhone) was refreshed on Tuesday. And although the iPod and music players have become obsolete, there are some compelling reasons to actually buy one. And of course, there's one big reason not to buy an iPod Touch. Buy Reason 1: A Great Price Look, it's not easy to find an affordable Apple device. But the iPod Touch bucks that trend. British boxer vows to get back in ring after Thai horror crash
A British Muay Thai boxer vowed to get up off the floor and back into the ring after a horror crash in Koh Samui left him fighting for his life. Chris Richardson was crushed by a pickup truck as he pulled out of a coffee shop on his motorbike on April 13 earlier this year. The injuries were so severe that the 32 year old had to be airlifted to a Bangkok hospital after suffering from multiple broken bones, a fractured eye socket, and a foot infection, which left him bed-bound and seriously ill. The York-born pugilist’s friend Alison, today announced some good news, however, saying he is on the mend despite his body being held together by metal rods. “The leg frames have been removed and Chris is sitting up now and working with a physio to build up his strength. We did get him to stand briefly, which was so good to see, and hopefully, after his next surgery, we’ll be able to move him even more.” “I look forward to getting him into a wheelchair, so I can take him to the garden … [Read more...] about British boxer vows to get back in ring after Thai horror crash
Thailand News Today | Post pandemic Thailand – What to expect
This Friday, July 1, there will be an official declaration that Thailand is now in “post pandemic” mode. Here’s an overview of the current situation and what to expect. The word endemic is being avoided as Thai officials believe it will be up to the World Health Organisation to make that call. According to the Public Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr. Kiattiphum Wongrajit, “What we expect to see is only small or medium clusters that will not do any harm to our public health service. The disease will be under control.” He commented on the international concerns over two new Covid-19 sub-variants, BA.4 and BA.5, noting that infections had already been detected in Thailand but, at this stage, had not led to an increase in the number of serious cases being admitted to hospitals. On the tourist side of the pandemic, deputy government spokeswoman Traisulee Traisaranakul announced that the International Air Transport Association is predicting that foreign visitors to … [Read more...] about Thailand News Today | Post pandemic Thailand – What to expect
Thai netizens berate government for wasting public cash on working holidays
Thai netizens have slammed government officials in the central province of Pathum Thani for wasting taxes on a pointless trip to Phang Nga and Phuket. Government officials from the Mueng Tha Khlong District were supposed to be taking part in a working seminar to develop women’s potential in Phang Nga, and Phuket, from June 23 – 26. But the non-profit organization, Anti-Corruption of Thailand, criticised the government on its Facebook page, ปฏิบัติการหมาเฝ้าบ้าน, saying they used the 490,000 baht trip as a holiday. The pictures posted on the non-profit organisation’s Facebook page were taken from the Facebook accounts of the seminar participants. The picture captions were cutting. One said, “Others might go to the sea to escape from love and hot weather, but we escape from work.” Another said, “Go to Phuket! Thanks to the kind sponsors,” and another, “Wonderful activities for Tha Khlong women.” The pictures reveal the participants cruising, visiting tourist attractions, … [Read more...] about Thai netizens berate government for wasting public cash on working holidays
Sri Lanka suspends sale of petrol to public for next 2 weeks
The supply of petrol for cars in Sri Lanka has been suspended due to the country’s greatest economic crisis in decades. Only buses, trains, ambulances, and transport needed to deliver food will be permitted to refuel over the next 2 weeks. Authorities revealed that only 9,000 tonnes of diesel and 6,000 tonnes of gasoline are available to support the nation’s critical services, and buying petrol and diesel for private cars is prohibited until July 10. Authorities have ordered 22 million people to work from home, and schools in urban areas have closed for the time being. Nathan Piper, head of oil and gas research at Investec, says Sri Lanka is the first country to take such extreme measures of suspending sales of petrol to the community, “Since the 1970’s oil crisis when fuel was rationed in the US and Europe and speed limits introduced to reduce demand.” Sri Lanka is negotiating a bailout plan since it is struggling to pay for imports like petrol and food. Furthermore, the … [Read more...] about Sri Lanka suspends sale of petrol to public for next 2 weeks

Bus shortages in Bangkok causing longer waits for commuters
The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority has confirmed that there are severe bus shortages on roughly 27 routes around the city and that nearly 90% of commuters have experienced delays. After receiving a number of complaints from the public, the BMTA found issues with fare collection, driver shortages, maintenance on buses, and the poor management of the schedule. There are 2,885 buses in the BMTA management, which have been in use for between 5 and 25 years. Most of the buses don’t operate efficiently or effectively, and older buses occasionally need to be repaired. The red buses can often be seen belching black smoke from their exhausts. A detailed study revealed that 27 of 107 routes, or nearly 25% of all services, experienced shortages of vehicles. The BMTA will rearrange the timetables for routes facing problems, mainly during rush hours. On a few overcrowded lines, more buses will be deployed. However, new buses won’t be bought due to budget reasons. Before Covid-19, the … [Read more...] about Bus shortages in Bangkok causing longer waits for commuters
