In a new clip from an upcoming episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kim Kardashian realised that Tristan Thompson had blocked her on Instagram. Immediately after discovering she’d been blocked, Kim called Khloe to share the news, saying that she’d “spit” on Tristan the next time she saw him. Kim and Tristan’s relationship has been very tense since she found out about reports that he cheated on Khloe. Even though Kim eventually reassured Khloe that she’d be nice to Tristan, Khloe wasn’t buying it. If you want people to love you on Instagram, it doesn’t hurt to engage with other members of the community. Or, if you’re lazy and/or sneaky, you could try outsourcing the heavy lifting to one of a number of apps that use your Instagram credentials to follow, like, and comment on your behalf in an entirely automated fashion. Instagram, not surprisingly, wants its service to be about human connections, not bots pelting members with spam interactions. It says that such apps violate its terms of service. And now it’s using machine learning to identify inauthentic activity and undo it. The company says it will notify the people who use such apps that it’s deleted the synthetic interactions, and will make them change their passwords so the apps can no longer hijack their accounts. This sounds like good news for those of us who enjoy using Instagram rather than seeing it as a popularity contest to be won at any cost. As long as we have had databases and the Internet, we have had "stalking." And things have only gotten easier with the advent of social media. The "stalking" -- the harmless satisfaction of curiosity kind and not the should-get-you-arrested kind -- makes sense though. We’re curious creatures by nature, and we have all of this data right in front of our faces. It's as if it was made just to be over-analyzed by our highly evolved brains. It’s become the social media game, for better or for worse, and if you’re going to stalk someone’s Instagram - well, you may as well do it right. Opening a second account is one way to go about this.
