Casual dining chain Barbeque Nation has hired two additional merchant bankers, SBI Capital and Ambit Capital, and is preparing a fresh draft red herring prospectus to be filed with market regulator SEBI this month or early next month, sources told Moneycontrol. The Dhanani family-promoted Barbeque Nation, backed by private equity firm CX Partners, has been trying to go public since mid-2017. However, regulatory hurdles and unfavourable market conditions have delayed the planned Dalal Street debut.“SBI Capital and Ambit Capital have recently been appointed for the IPO and join IIFL & Axis Capital which had been taken on board earlier this year when the listing plans of the firm were revived. advertisement advertisement Adam Kalkin isn’t the only architect to make homes out of shipping containers. A handful of architects, including Jennifer Siegal and Lot-Ek, began using them ten years ago as a gritty reaction against the tidy white surfaces of modernism. But nobody has employed shipping containers more inventively than Kalkin, a New Jersey architect and artist who has used them to design luxurious homes, museum additions, and refugee housing. In architectural circles, Kalkin is regarded as something of an oddball. He began his talk at the Urban Center in New York Tuesday night by playing the first five minutes of a Jerry Lewis movie, followed by the actor’s acceptance speech at the Academy Awards last month. His website includes lessons on hitting a tennis forehand and a selection of songs to sing after taking antidepressants. Years ago Kalkin shaved while delivering a lecture at the Whitney Museum. His talk this week was tied to the publication of Quik … [Read more...] about Would You Live in a Shipping Container?
As Apple’s music event draws closer, there’s plenty of speculation that a new version of iTunes might be nigh–and with it, a pwn-resistant version of iPhone OS 3.1. So with a healthy fear of Apple’s anti-hacker scheming, it bears mentioning that not all iPhone workarounds involve offending the Cupertino gods. And not all involve downloads, or Terminal commands, or actual work. This is one such workaround. advertisement advertisement This dead-simple iPhone tethering fix isn’t new, but with all the flotsam of Apple coverage surrounding MMS and new iPods, it seems to have been lost in the mire. Three reasons you should care: 1) It works flawlessly via Bluetooth or USB, giving you mobile 3G anywhere. 2) It incurs no extra charges (that I’ve found with my AT&T account) 3) It takes 10 seconds to enable, no computer needed, and 4) AT&T knows of the fix, and they’re tolerating it, according to PC Magazine. advertisement … [Read more...] about The Simple, Secret iPhone Tethering Fix
advertisement The brown paper bags that McDonald’s hands out along with Happy Meals and fries are an unlikely art medium, but artist Yuken Teruya has managed to turn the grease-stained vessels into beautiful, delicate paper forests. In the Notice-Forest series, Teruya cuts one side of a paper bag in a tree shape. The cut-out tree is folded down so that it appears to be part of a diorama to onlookers who look inside the bag. According to Teruya, the diorama is meant to look like a real tree positioned against the shadows of other trees in a forest. In other words, Teruya reclaims paper bags back into what they once were–trees. Teruya isn’t the only artist of late to take disposal fast food items and turn them into unexpected pieces of art. Designer Scott Jarvie’s Clutch Light uses hundreds of plastic drinking straws to create a vibrant multi-colored lamp.
