On The FedNow Service: What To Expect From The First Version

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Mateus Hernandes Rodrigues—Director of International Operations at DB1 Global Software . Under development by the Federal Reserve, FedNow is a U.S. instant payment service designed to provide a fast, safe and efficient way for individuals and businesses to conduct real-time financial transactions. Inspired by the Brazilian PIX, in my previous article, Five Lessons From Brazil For Implementing FedNow , I mentioned some preparations that technology companies may have. I will now provide more detailed information on key resources, stakeholders and technical information about the service. Unlike other instant payment methods, such as PayPal, FedNow is being developed and operated by the Federal Reserve rather than a private company. This means that it will be supervised directly by the institution and will be subject to the same regulations and supervision as other payment systems that are operated by it. How CEOs Can Bring Out Their Human Side In A Hybrid World

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Group Chief Executive at Kin + Carta Europe , delivering end-to-end digital services for the world’s leading businesses. What are CEOs for? For me, our main role is to feed, drive and energize a team. This is often best done in person and in small doses, although it can be almost as effective remotely. It’s a question of how you can be ‘with the people’ when and wherever they need you. CEOs are experienced hybrid workers. In most organizations, whether they're global or have a few offices in one country, the CEO cannot be in the same place as their entire team at the same time. In many ways, our working lives haven’t necessarily changed that much post-pandemic. At a time when teams are often split between home and office, we need to make the most of every interaction we have with our colleagues. This has meant dialing up the need to be more considerate and open to listening—whatever the conversation, … [Read more...] about How CEOs Can Bring Out Their Human Side In A Hybrid World

Corporate Mental Health Programs: The Future Of Work And Well-Being

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin CEO at Embed . Passionate for business, tech development & women empowerment. Mental health is now prevalently on the radar for most organizations—and this was not the case some years ago. The American Psychological Association’s 2022 survey found that 71% of workers believe that employers are now more concerned about their mental health than in the past. I often wonder if this is one of the silver linings of Covid, in addition to having the opportunity to work from home, which also raised new issues relating to mental health and the balance between work and home. According to a brief by the World Health Organization, anxiety and depression’s global prevalence increased by 25% in the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. The lines were always blurred for us in senior roles in organizations, where gaining that ideal balance between work and home life is a race most are not winning. Prior to Covid, I worked … [Read more...] about Corporate Mental Health Programs: The Future Of Work And Well-Being

Automation Is A Strategy, Not (Only) A Means Or An End

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Romi Stein is CEO & cofounder of OpenLegacy , leading its strategic vision of digital-driven integration for legacy systems. In previous blogs, I have touched on automation from different aspects or levels. On the micro level, we have seen that back-of-house activities can, and should, be as automated as possible for various reasons, such as economic efficiencies and compliance. But at the customer-facing side of things, automation should support human activities. On the macro level, combining AI and automated processes can provide startling new abilities and opportunities. Machine learning and neural networks utilizing existing resources and processes are already beginning to make waves (Walle and ChatGPT are just the beginning). There are many ways to look at technological development, most often in three or four stages: invention, innovation and diffusion—or R&D, growth, maturity and decline. … [Read more...] about Automation Is A Strategy, Not (Only) A Means Or An End

With Revenue Down 5.5%, Tim Cook Presides Over Shrinking Apple

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Apple just blamed its weakest quarter in years on forces outside its control. But something else could be behind Apple’s 5% drop in sales for the most recent quarter. Apple is violating one of the most basic requirements for growth: customers will switch to the product that offers them the most value. Based on listening to my undergraduate students this week, many are feeling like fools for being locked in — via the iPhone — to Apple’s “ecosystem.” They would rather own a product that costs less and works better. Apple’s business is dependent on essentially jailing its customers within its ecosystem. The iPhone is a 15 year old product — that accounted for 56% of Apple’s revenues in the latest quarter. It competes in a declining smartphone industry — shipments were down 18% in the latest quarter, according to the Wall Street Journal . Apple’s growth problem is not really due to macroeconomics or supply chain … [Read more...] about With Revenue Down 5.5%, Tim Cook Presides Over Shrinking Apple
