Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin As the world prepares to enter the third year of the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s hard to believe that there was a time before anyone knew what a coronavirus was, or how it would disrupt everyone’s lives seemingly overnight. Today, many people have found ways to adjust to a new normal and accepted the ripple effect of change in their daily lives, including how and where they work. But what about healthcare workers? Suffering countless hours understaffed, under supported, under protected and underfunded, nearly half a million healthcare workers have left the workforce since February 2020, estimates the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Some of the main reasons healthcare workers report having left their jobs include: cut salaries, benefits and raises; being forced to work more shifts; denied paid time off or reduced hours; insufficient personal protective equipment; and a downplaying of the severity of their experiences, reports The … [Read more...] about Amid Rampant Provider Burnout, Marketplace Platform Companies Focus On Clinician Experience

The U.S. equity market breathed a sigh of relief on Dec. 16 after the U.S. Federal Reserve disclosed its plans for reduced monthly bond-buying and increased interest rates for 2022. The central bank's aggressive stance on managing the stickier-than-expected inflation can prove to be a major headwind for several growth stocks. Especially those relying excessively on cheap capital. However, fundamentally strong companies with several growth catalysts and robust financial performance could easily withstand those headwinds. Companies like Marvell Technology ( NASDAQ:MRVL ) and Halozyme Therapeutics ( NASDAQ:HALO ) can prove to be attractive picks for retail investors, even if they have only $1,000 to invest. Here's why. There's a once-in-a-century pandemic happening in the world, but you wouldn't know it from looking at Okta's ( NASDAQ:OKTA ) latest earnings numbers. The cloud-based identity and security specialist has been steady as a rock as the company continues to deliver strong revenue growth and increasing cash flow like clockwork . In the third quarter, revenue rose 42% to $217.4 million, well ahead of estimates at $202.7 million. Its remaining performance obligations, essentially its backlog, jumped 53% to $1.58 billion, a sign that bookings are growing even faster than revenue and a bullish signal for long-term growth. On the bottom line, adjusted earnings per share improved from a loss of $0.03 to a profit of $0.04, topping expectations of a loss of a penny per share, and it recorded free cash flow of $41.6 million, up from $9.2 million a year ago. What stood out about this quarter is that Okta's making significant headway with legacy institutions like banks that are … [Read more...] about 2 Bright Spots in Okta’s Earnings Report
2021 ended up being a rough year for many growth investors. In the latter half, supply chain constraints helped drive the consumer price index (a popular proxy for inflation) to a 39-year high, causing the Federal Reserve to accelerate the taper of its asset purchase program. More recently, rising bond yields and talk of interest rate hikes have added fuel to the fire, accelerating the sell-off of many richly valued stocks. Unfortunately for shareholders, CrowdStrike ( NASDAQ:CRWD ) was caught in the fray, and the cybersecurity company has seen its share price fall 40.1% from its all-time high. However, longtime investors know that volatility is the price of admission when dealing in the stock market, especially where growth stocks are concerned. On the bright side, that volatility often creates buying opportunities. With that in mind, is CrowdStrike stock a smart buy right now? Here's what you should know. Image source: Getty Images. What happened Shares of JD.com ( NASDAQ:JD ) , MercadoLibre ( NASDAQ:MELI ) , and Sea Limited ( NYSE:SE ) all bounced strongly on Thursday -- up 10.4%, 5.7%, and 5.1%, respectively, as of 2:15 p.m. ET. Given that Wall Street is in a quiet period before earnings season kicks off again and there was a broad synchronous move in these stocks, macroeconomic factors likely played a part. In this case, it looks as if the higher-than-expected weekly U.S. jobless claims reported Thursday may be causing investors to reassess their expectations about the pace at which the Fed will raise benchmark interest rates this year. Less aggressive hikes would benefit growth stocks. In addition, China's central bank actually cut interest rates last night, which is perhaps why JD.com rose even more than those other tech stocks. So what On Thursday, the U.S. Labor Department released its unemployment report for last week, showing 286,000 new initial … [Read more...] about Why JD.com, MercadoLibre, and Sea Limited All Surged Today
Starting a business can be scary, but it can also be an exhilarating experience. I've launched my own small businesses over my career, as well as consulted with others to get their ventures up and running. I have found from working with thousands of businesses over time is that what separates success from failure often comes down to three key things: purpose, people, and technology. Yes, there are many other factors at play like adequate funding, a solid business plan, old-fashioned hard work, and a bit of luck. Yet, purpose, people, and technology help create a solid foundation from which to launch and grow almost any business. Here is why each one is so crucial to getting your business off the ground. 1. Know your purpose. The first question you should ask yourself before starting a business, is "why do I want to do this?" Your business should be based on a specific desire or passion you have to create something special. It's not about making money or earning a … [Read more...] about 3 Key Ingredients Every Startup Needs for Short- and Long-Term Success
To put it simply, licensing is renting your idea to a company. Typically, this company is already in business, meaning they are manufacturing, marketing, advertising, and distributing products. Most importantly, they have shelf space in retail stores. The beauty of this business model is that you benefit from this existing infrastructure . Most inventors want to focus on ideation, not running a business. Licensing is an attractive alternative for that reason. After licensing about two dozen of my own ideas for products, I began sharing my 10-step strategy for licensing success with others two decades ago. Since then, my coaching company inventRight has helped people from more than 60 countries learn how to license their ideas. When I travel around the country to speak at inventor groups, I often meet people who have spent tens of thousands of dollars on patents, prototypes, and inventory -- but they're no closer to commercializing their invention than when they began. … [Read more...] about What You Need to License an Idea
